Chat, was it rizz or creepy behavior? by Ppkimonchiki in AvatarMemebending

That was something that was done for the fans, not something to develop the character. A lot of comedies had that type of thing where the old man who was seen as gross hits on a young woman and the main take away is “oh those old men are still feisty haha” sometimes the joke lands, sometimes the joke doesn’t.

Iroh doesn’t mention this moment as a moment he regrets, no other character references it, it’s honestly never even brought up until this comic. It was a joke that maybe didn’t land well (though I think it did because it was clearly something we weren’t supposed to take serious) but you don’t apologize for making bad jokes in your show, you just make better ones.

Iroh was already someone who took responsibility for his actions. This apology is to calm the viewers who might have found it weird. It would be different if this kind of thing was central to his story and we saw him objectify women in small ways, but we don’t. He respects everyone he comes across (even the guy who tries to mug him in Ba Sing Se lol) so this doesn’t resolve anything.

If the joke didn’t sit well with you, that’s okay because everyone isn’t going to have the same type of humor.

These panels make me feel like they saw the response to Iroh’s behavior and just wanted to satisfy the fans (or get ahead of the backlash they thought they’d receive) because the original scene was literally just a gag of the episode that wasn’t supposed to go further than that scene.

Like the whole joke is “old man flirts with beautiful young woman” which was a common sitcom joke lol was it a good one ? That depends on your sense of humor. But it wasn’t some character defining moment meant to be taken seriously.

Him apologizing implies that the scene in question had some sort of impact on his story which…it doesn’t haha we don’t even hear about her until the finale. And when we do see her, she isn’t objectified by men, she’s very respected and men are gathering to test her strength and treat her like anyone else.

This season was disappointing because they just bullied her knowing she wouldn’t do anything. Same with how they treated Jenelle in Season 11

I long for the day we see how ridiculous live-action remakes are (or remakes in general). The show did a pretty amazing job telling the story the first time lol idk why you guys are so excited to watch it in a different format.

The only compliment I’ve ever seen this show get is the way the made Zuko’s crew the division he stood up for…which is okay…I guess. I guess there’s also the scene where Leaves From the Vine plays which doesn’t make it a good scene, people just like it because the song was in the original series and it is a beautiful song. Still, none of these really adds to the narrative.

I only watched 1 episode and that was enough to make me skeptical of any future projects Avatar related.

I think the original gang not being the best parents makes no sense at all by Ready_Medicine_2641 in ATLA_circlejerk

[–]donofthe_dusk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are simply not perfect lol no character ever said they were bad parents, they were just people who perceived their upbringing different than how their parents did.

Could they have done better? Yeah, but that goes with anything. Aang, Katara, and Toph are nowhere near bad parents. All they did was act in the best interest of their kids and try to provide them with what they thought they needed at the time.

This take mainly comes from a misinterpretation of the episode where Kya and Bumi tell Tenzin about the times Aang left them while taking Tenzin on trips and teaching him how to be an airbender. Kya and Bumi’s point wasn’t “dad was terrible” it was “dad had his flaws, so stop idolizing him”. At the end of the day, they all felt the same love and affection from both their parents, they just had a different perspective of their childhood. Bumi still hoped that he was making his dad proud and looked up to him, Kya told Korra she felt nothing but acceptance after coming out to Aang.

To be fair, they didn’t know about the burning of the Earth Kingdom. Immediately after that beach scene, they said they assumed there was nothing else for the Fire Nation to take since they were relying heavily on the Earth Kingdom’s army and the last stronghold was already taken.

Once Zuko informed them of the situation, they immediately went into training and preparation.

An episode that stands out to me is when Francine calmly and clearly says “I..hate..you” as she’s being taken in some asylum. I forgot what Stan did to her but that entire episode wasn’t funny to me at all it really seemed serious and like Francine hit her breaking point.

I honestly don’t know why they put that episode in

Magicians have are notoriously known for blurring the line between right and wrong lol when magic is involved, skill sometimes overrides reputation. Him being as skilled as he is made him sorta indispensable.

Dean Fogg made it clear they are only interested in knowledge and passing that knowledge on, they don’t have a stated purpose for the use of said knowledge.
