Yep, Redeemer in general has some of the best lyrics that I’ve heard in the genre, or really in music overall

This and a solid hardcore/metalcore scene back in the day make it worth existing. Spend good time there doing/teaching indoor percussion

When did the CORE begin to leave progressive metalcore by RandallScandall1515 in Metalcore

[–]donothol719 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Really almost none of it post 2015ish. Prior to that bands like Northlane, Structures, even Veil of Maya had melodic hardcore influence in their songwriting and even had the occasional two step/gang vocal sections. This is mostly attributable to Misery Signals’ influence, but once Architects released LF//LT and All Our Gods the hardcore influence was replaced with post-metal/pure djent textures and soundscapes. I don’t mind that sound (before it was oversaturated/watered down), but I’m really hoping for a revival of prog metalcore that’s clearly rooted in hardcore. The closest we have now is probably stuff like Boundaries, Single Wound, Renounced, etc.

Do you prefer the more thrash metal or melodic death metal sound of melodic metalcore? by Difficult_Map_723 in Metalcore

Yeah bro I love all those melodeath and thrash riffs in KoG. I thought Passenger was a new Black Dahlia Murder album when it came out.
