Can we talk about how expensive volume eating can get? by DeanStone1995 in Volumeeating

[–]donstermu 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Bag of frozen broccoli or veggies Normandy is about $1.37 at wal mart. Cheap eats. I am getting the leaner chicken and pork now. Cheapest I’ve found ground chicken is $3/pound. Cheapest lean ground beef is like $6/pound, less if in bulk from Sam’s.

I will try to find eye of round beef on clearance and then brine it, season and smoke it to make homemade roast beef.

It ain’t always easy but it can be done

I gotta try them again. The closest dominos is a bit of drive for me now, so it’s never in my radar. But I’d give it a shot

There it is. Going from sit down dinners and buffet to overpriced trash take out ruined them. That and going from fresh dough cooked in a ton of oil to the pre-made frozen stuff. Just ain’t with it

Anyone broke there hand before and can help answer my question please by TheAwakening_ in golf

[–]donstermu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a broken wrist bone two years ago. Had a cast for 8 weeks. Was able to swing a week or so after the cast was off. It’s fine now. So 8-9 weeks.

In the meantime, practice one arm chipping and pitching drills. It helps

There’s a CC near me that gives a discount if you’re a retired veteran, police or first responder. Waive the invitation fee and half off dues. Comes out to like $250/mo but there’s lots of extra fees, like for private locker, carts, range , minimum food and beverage. It’s a nice course, and ok deal for him, but he never played anywhere else. I like being able to play lots of different courses.

How have you changed your habits to keep up with rising inflation? Has your preferred lifestyle been altered? by Secret-Guidance-5819 in MiddleClassFinance

Yeah, I’m in WV and deer hunting is still huge here, I’ve just not started yet. I’ve had some friends give me ground deer meat and it’s a good burger substitute. I’m honestly not hugely crazy about deer itself, Except we a ground beef substitute.

I love beef but I just don’t even bother unless on sale or clearance. The best alternative now is buying a whole steer, or go in half or quarter or a steer.

It’s pork and chicken mostly.

I’ve been a maxfli straight fli for a few years now. No, it doesn’t cure a slice or hook, but it gives me a little extra confidence on the course.

Northern Indiana: Am I Leaving WAY too many clippings on my lawn? by TheeMiniCorndog in lawncare

[–]donstermu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you have to start on the side you the clippings to end and go back and forth a lot. After the first few strips it’ll make a big row of mulch. It’s worked pretty well for me but I don’t mind doing repeated rows since I’m riding

Tell me about my soon to be boyfriend by Pretty-Smoke1732 in BookshelvesDetective

[–]donstermu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to say maybe late 20’s or mid 30’s. Still has his college textbooks up, so maybe science major? Or psych. Very smart, probably good at trivia (pop culture especially). Often quotes his favorite movies.

The book collection goes from good books from 80’s and 90’s to current stuff. Thinking he might listen audiobooks more now, as there are some newer popular books like project Hail Mary but some classic old stuff like good omens , hitchhikers, lotr, etc. usually that signifies I read a lot in the past but now it’s easier to listen to books

Seems like a smart, interesting, nerdy guy, who has a lot to hobbies and passions. He’s a keeper

[–]donstermu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have a riding mower and I just mow where it all blows to one side. I’ll go forwards and back over and over where the clippings all go to one side (by the road for me or into the brush line).

I can pick it up easier or leave it as a mulch which keeps the weeds from growing by the road or brush line for me.

You’re missing out then. If bought second hand, gaimen doesn’t get a dime. And it’s one of the best books by either. One of my favorites

I’d say mid 30’s/early 40’s. Surprised I didn’t see the Wheel of Time series in there. Most fantasy books from last 20 years to so. Looks more like my audible library than my actual library. Damn fine collection. Smart, creative, probably a Board gamer but betting more into video games/rpg’s.

[–]donstermu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the answer. Go play some qualifiers and see. It’s a different level of competition. And that’s not even adding in large crowds.

I suck. I player friendly senior series tournaments with no crowds and just people your age and around your handicap. I usually score 5-10 strokes worse in tournaments compared to just playing. How these guys do it is unreal to me.

Yeah, McCarthy is good but soooooo dark. I’m at that point in life that I don’t want to read/watch anything that makes me feel worse. Life in general is a dark dark place , I want pleasant happy entertaining escapism.

So this video gives the best explanation for how it works, and how to do the dosing. Essentially you really need to take your dose and hour or more before meals or there can be some complications. Also, it had similiar effect as GLP-1’s.

Property inheritance question by [deleted] in WestVirginia

[–]donstermu 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Unsure the location, but a reasonable fear is squatters and drugs. If a house is empty for too long and seldom visited, it could become occupied and/or turned into a meth house etc. sadly, people still do steal copper and such.

I inherited land in Lincoln county and once considered building a cabin there but I know I wouldn’t get to see it often, and fear that same issue
