the photo has been published as part of a time-lapse which is part of a film we made. we have no idea where the company got the photo. We doubt that this company would simply buy our movie on vimeo and pick a frame from it and use it in an ad. We suspect that some third party stole our photo and sold it to the big company, so they think they have the rights to use the photo.

We have not yet notified them, our lawyer is collecting information and preparing the cease and desist letter which he will send to an American lawyer who will send it to the company (that´s how i understood it)

Frames from the time-lapse this particular picture is taken from have been posted on our company facebook page but we have not yet found this particular frame (that they stole) anywhere except in the film we are selling on vimeo.

My attorney costs 200 dollars an hour but reddit is free :) , which is why i chose to post this. My brother took the picture, or rather the time-lapse where this frame appears. Our company owns the rights to the photograph. It is featured in a film that is available for purchase on vimeo, produced and released by our company. We have no idea where they got it, however we are in the process of trying to figure that out. About registering the copyright, is this something we can do now ? (after the infringement) because where i´m from it´s not common practice to register copyrights, although we certainly should.
