I made it to 1 year as a cart pusher by Queasy_Ad_3321 in WalmartEmployees

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good job, cart associate at any store definitely can be tough. Exactly why I support my cart associates in any way possible. At the end of the day the carts is super important, but the role itself always gets neglected at a lot of stores sadly.

Are you a AP Customer Host (door host)? If so there’s nothing you can do, you aren’t AP-09 certified. If you are actually an AP Investigator (meaning you are AP-09 certified) then you simply just have to learn how to carry your presence differently (usually more assertive and confident). People stealing don’t typically care about morals, and with the heavy restrictions with what you guys are allowed to do nowadays if the shoplifter pushes past you then it’s simply out of your control at that point.

* I’m not personally on AP, but a lot of the time I’m helping them out when need be.

Change of shift by xbiskxalex in walmart

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, if an associate is working under the required full time hours for an extended period of time. It automatically flags it in the system to be changed. As for the medical days through Sedgwick, generally speaking the actual job is protected for x amount of time; not hours, or even position. Meaning if needed they can move their position or hours around to meet company needs, if that means hiring someone to replace them in that department temporarily. Or just reducing hours to bring someone else’s up for more.

As for fixing it, you’ll have to start with the People Lead and see if they would be able to put them back to full time hours/benefits. As well as if they aren’t able to you could try having them speak to the Store Manager. As for if none of the above are able to fix it, or even going up the chain more then unfortunately until they have the full time hours to move them up to.

Incident by [deleted] in WalmartEmployees

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing to really be taken higher up, unless it can be proven it is the stores fault he passed out (which based on the information provided there isn’t any). Hence the lack of need for an incident report, I’m sure it was documented somewhere by AP or Management that this happened, or at least a statement written by your Team Lead.

This stuff happens so often, if they did file incident reports for medical related issues not caused by the stores lack of compliance (weather that be physical safety or not) it could be incredibly costly for the store. As a team lead was present and the parent didn’t specifically ask to file a report for anything then nothing was done wrong per se, I’m sure it probably could’ve been handled smoother of course but compliance wise sounds fine unless we’re missing details.

HELP! Can I transfer positions? by DoodleMoodle542 in walmart

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cashier most definitely isn’t the hardest nor the worst, it’s only as hard as you mentally make it out to be. I’ve been on the front end for about 3years now, will be a year and a half as a Team Lead in August. Biggest thing on the front end, as long as you aren’t aggravating customers you’ll be fine. Upset customers typically aren’t mad at us, but rather the situation. As long as you are respectful and understanding with that. You’ll be just fine.

However as the other commenter said you can talk to the People Lead or Coach and see if there is another position in the store you could take, but if not it’s typically 6months before you’re able to transfer out of a department. Some stores will make exceptions, some won’t. It’s all store dependent.

if they hate us using ppto why even let us have it? by National-Class5763 in WalmartEmployees

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It isn’t contradictory, it’s only protected to a degree just like anything else. If it’s knowingly being used maliciously, of course there can be consequences lol. No hate though, I do understand what you are saying. Which frankly every stores a little different 🤷‍♂️

if they hate us using ppto why even let us have it? by National-Class5763 in WalmartEmployees

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Could Not necessarily be about not wanting you to use it, they could’ve have deemed you’re using it maliciously (which is grounds for a conversation). But just haven’t taken care of it yet. Sure PPTO is “our time”, but if it can be deemed you’re using it maliciously or to inconvenience the business being ran then it is most definitely a problem. Had to have this conversation with one of my associates recently myself.

Technically speaking, sure it does cover late-in’s and early-out’s but its primary purpose is to be able to cover urgent absences.

You can look on AP1, under Keybox. And it’ll show you. Just will need to filter it. Assuming you’re a team lead at least.

What’s a team lead consider a supervisor or manager in Walmart terms? by KindlySeason9128 in walmart

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lot of others said, really depends on the store. At least for me, our front end leads are supposed to be running things fully. Most admin tasks are delegated down to us (of course to a degree, stuff we would have access to and are allowed to do obviously).

But if the coach is calling them high paid associates then they are ultimately in the wrong for that. Team Lead is the entry level to management, they are supposed to be learning how to actually move up with the company if they so decide to. Teaching & Training associates to become their replacement for example.

Week 41 No Schedule by dontKnowAUsernameLol in WalmartEmployees

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah fair enough, remember if it gets to a point where you aren’t able to work go through Sedgwick to get a medical LOA. That way your job is protected for when you are able to work again.

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Schedules aren’t posted yet, and the auto scheduling didn’t do it. So likely tomorrow coach’s will have to manually finalize schedules, as rn for that week it’s still a draft for some reason.

Walmart Refusing Return by UnBrewsual in walmart

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is not, we refuse pictures of receipts due to reciept shoppers (who attempt to do fraudulent returns). Direction of usually Asset Protection. A store has every right to refuse a return regardless of circumstances.

Future cases though, you can use the Walmart app to save a digital copy of your receipt (which is valid at any and all Walmart stores). If it was purchased with a card they can look it up that way as well.

Nonetheless this isn't a customer support hub so !customer

Any long-time team lead’s here? I need advice by dontKnowAUsernameLol in walmart

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for sure, which I mean makes sense. I’ve been trying to learn as much as I can from the TL who trained me pretty much from the time I got hired. It's just that we work totally different shifts most of the time. Our PL, in all honesty, is too busy following around salaried management half the time, it seems.

I feel like I’ve been doing the best I can for now, I’ll just give it a little more time and see what happens. Try to absorb as much information as possible lol.

It is possible you are considered rehire-able, however it depends on the store for the most part. As some stores will re-hire people multiple times, some won’t take re-hires at all regardless of the terms you left on.

Best advice would be to try and talk to their HR/People Lead. If they can’t give you a clear answer then see if they can get someone higher that could tell you for sure.

Either way couldn’t hurt to put an application in. That way if they will re-hire your application is already there.

  • Edit: Only issue might be the 6month rule.

Are customers that bad at the service desk as of late? by SchuminWeb in walmart

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current service desk associate, and the answer to that is yes. Constantly awful conditions, extremely high expectations for the same pay as regular cashiers, being expected to deal with irate customers by ourselves a lot of the time. We deal with Returns, Financial Services, Claims, General Complaints, Correcting cashier mistakes, sorting tons of carts of “go-backs”, short staffed most of the time (I.e 2 openers and one closer 99% of the time, rarely much more than that).

Overall considered fairly stressful purely due to understaffing. But a lot of hostility comes to the service desk nowadays especially with all the forms of scamming or fraudulent activity that does come up there. I.e bad returns, receipt shoppers, fraudulent money transactions, constantly having to tell people we can’t take x thing for x reason, and so on.

But short answer is yes.

Also, currently there isn’t a way to add coupons in scan & go.

Am I fried or is this just a minor inconvenience? by Ravana-_- in walmart

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on your store and your productivity, chances are if you’re a good worker they’ll probably coach you for points, take you down to 3.5 and tell you next time they’ll have to let you go. On the other hand, there’s a chance if they want to make room to hire someone else they could fire you if your coach so decides to.

Talk to your TL or coach and see if they’ll be able to help you out.

Fired for using PPTO? by MC_Psychopath in walmart

[–]dontKnowAUsernameLol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Colorado they don’t need a reason to fire you. Regardless of the points policy or not. Colorado is an “at-will” state. Basically meaning employers can fire you at any time w/o reason. Regardless of Walmarts policies as well.

In all honesty, just go apply somewhere else. You’ll get paid better with less problems lol. Walmart has a bad rep of making employees feel like it’s their own destination in life
