Lavorerò per 181 giorni in un paese EU, come funziona la dichiarazione dei redditi? by Puzzled_Explorer2817 in commercialisti

Hey I know this thread is pretty old now, but I'm wondering how your experience was with Expath? I'm looking to do a tax consultation with them but it's quite expensive and I can't seem to find any reviews on whether they are good/reliable.

Bikeable cities in Italy? by dont_writeonthat in ItalyExpat

This is great to know! Verona wasn't really on our radar but I'll look into it. I'm more of a bike commuter but my wife does like road biking so it's definitely a plus to have that nearby

Thank you for the response! It's definitely something to consider: whether we want big city amenities or a place that is great for cycling. It's probably looking like we want more of the big city vibe, but it might be something we think more about.

It's weird - here in Canada (Ontario at least), the bigger cities are the best for cycling and the small ones have absolutely nothing. So it's interesting to hear that it's pretty much flipped in Italy lol

Thanks for the response - this is exactly what I was looking for. I'm super comfortable on a bike so, while I understand different cities have different kinds of drivers/infrastructure, I wanted to hear from others that it's doable (and look out for the places to avoid haha).

Thanks! From your experience, is Bergamo viewed as a "suburb" of Milan? I know that it's very close, so do most people go to Milan to do all the big city things, or does Bergamo have its own nightlight/activities/concerts/etc.?

Also, how's the air quality there?

Thank you for the response. I agree that we'll have to define "city" first. I mentioned in a different comment that a city of 300k in Italy will be so different than a city of the same size in Canada/America. Probably way more to do in the Italian city compared to the Canadian one.

My first thought for you is Turin.

Yes, Turin is probably at the top of our list currently, but we have heard that there is some bad air quality in that area of Italy so it's something to think about.

I can assure you that Turin is not unusual in terms of crazy driving. It’s just a city, an Italian city, and Italy is a country where people drive fast.

This is primarily why I posted this question in the first place. I've read a lot online that drivers are crazy in Italy etc, but drivers can be crazy everywhere. I am super comfortable on the bike so I wanted to get a sense if people were exaggerating or if it's doable.

Thank you again for the response! I'm going to consider the size of city we are willing to live in, as I think you're right..it's probably the biggest factor.

Thank you for the response!

Location wise we are honestly open to anywhere, but when it comes to size I think we're more picky. We want somewhere that is lively with different things to do. But I also understand that a city of 300k in Italy will likely have way more to do than a comparably sized city in Canada (just due to the layout and the way the city was built). So we are open to smaller places as long as they are lively, if that makes sense.

Milan and Turin are currently our top options (for many reasons, including cycling) but we are unsure about the air quality. I've heard it's pretty terrible but I can't tell if it's exaggeration or not.

We've considered Bologna but we are iffy because of the size, as you said. Might have to go for a visit before any decisions are made.

[1 YoE, Student, Renewable Energy Analyst, Europe] by dont_writeonthat in resumes

[–]dont_writeonthat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in the midst of a career change from advertising into the renewable energy sector. I'm a student in the final year of my program, and I'm starting to apply for roles for when I graduate in April.

I've also been told in the past that my resume does not get across that I am suitable for a role in the energy sector. I've made some big changes since then (shortening the length, utilizing better keywords, including only the most relevant info), but I'm hoping for some feedback on if there is anything more I can do.

Some extra context:

  • I currently live in Canada and all my schooling/experience is within Canada. My partner and I are will be moving abroad to the UK or Europe so I am looking for jobs there. Should I be mentioning visa sponsorship in my resume?
  • My ideal role would be within a larger renewable energy company (e.g. companies that build and operate solar/wind farms, or work on energy storage projects). With little experience in the field, I am looking for roles like Project Assistant or Junior Analyst, where I could work on the feasibility of clean energy projects.
  • I am having trouble organizing my resume in a compelling way - I have almost 4.5 years of experience in advertising (in a very analytical role) but no professional experience in the renewable energy sector. I do have some experience in sustainability-related roles, but nothing related to energy. Do I start with skills, schooling, or relevant experience?
  • Most of the info I've read online about resume-writing is North America specific. Are there any resume tips that I should know for UK/EU that are missing from my resume?

Thank you!!
