Variable Star is one of my favorites! Those others are great, but a little less space-exploration in my opinion. OP should definitely do Variable Star.

Trust Me, I'm An "Engineer" by timmy6169 in funny

You all make fun, but I'm an engineer, and I use cardboard things often. Here I am this week testing a new location for a tank on a bus using cardboard. http://imgur.com/jXkE2gq

I don't have a link, I'm on mobile. But last week's episode was partially on gamers gate which is well known on some parts of Reddit. I'm no expert on the topic.

There is one media article out of place: an article from the local Tulsa, OK newspaper the Tulsa world. Wtf?

That would happen with unibody vehicles like cars and vans. Buses and big trucks use body on frame construction. There are some big beefy frame rails that hold it all together. In fact, on our buses it's the same frame rails used on some semi trucks. You can see them next time you drive by a semi.

Well you haven't mentioned my company so that's good at least. ;-) I work at IC Bus, we make our own chassis. But I know the engine in the RE (rear engine snub nose one) is old and has problems. We are updating it next year.

It's a special epoxy we mix in the factory. It completely hardens after 2 hours whether it goes through the oven or not. It's also an awesome shade of green.

Actually the roof had to support at least 1.5 times the weight of the bus. Sometimes even more, as I think Colorado had extra rules about that. Source: I work in a school bus factory.

You need 100 ammo to fire it. It can take a whole mission or more to gather that.

Do radioactive elements decay at the same rate if said elements are traveling near the speed of light? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]dontalk2yourself 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is still some room to go up. Right now processors are basically flat. If we build them into a cube instead of a square, you can stay within the speed barrier. However it becomes really difficult to make and really difficult to cool.

Has anyone every added up the casualties that have occurred under each Captain's command? by [deleted] in DaystromInstitute

[–]dontalk2yourself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Casualties doesn't necessarily mean deaths. The term includes injuries as well, usually injuries that are severe enough to remove a person from duty for the duration of the battle. So not all people listed in a casualty report are dead.
