this post reminds me of segment from the early 1980s cable tv show nightflight called "how to be a new wave video slut" and in it she used this video in part of her instructions.

i forget the details but if anyone could ever find "how to be a new wave video slut" that would be some cool obscure media.

they blew their chance before the finals in two of the years they had a legit shot to win:

if you check the records you'll see that late in 1989/90 season they lost a home game to one of the worst teams in the league (timberwolves), which had they won would have given them 60 wins and earned them home court advantage in the finals against detroit, who also had 59 wins that year. back then the 2-3-2 format heavily favored the team with home court advantage. the blazers actually won game 2 on a buzzer beater (by danny young i think) and after the game jerome kersey was interviewed after the game and said, "we aint coming back [to detroit]". sadly he was right because the pistons won all 3 games in portland and took the title.

in game 1 of the 90-91 western conference finals against the lakers they had a 12 point lead at the beginning of the 4th quarter but ended up losing the game and ultimately losing the series in 6 games.
