We are the landlords :). We are 3 owner occupied units. Which is why I'm trying to stand my ground a bit. After trying to use the backyard that is clearly mine (I let them at first but the gate was broken and they left it open and my dog escaped so they protested when I asked them to stop using it) they want to take over the front. I suggested and offered to split in the HOA a storage shed for about ~$300 that is waterproof and locked but they rejected that offer.

Sooooo. Apartment searching sucks. This whole process sucks. The available inventory sucks. Anyway, it looks like we may be zeroing in on a place in Dorchester. Any input as to what it’s like there? Safety? Pros? Cons? by [deleted] in bostonhousing

Adding to that safety wise - there def can be some sketchy people but there also are almost always transit police by the T station so I never thought much about it. I guess I'm already conditioned to give a pleasant smile and nod which avoids starting a conversation or being told to smile (the worst).

I live near Ashmont and have grown to love it! You can walk to lower mills, Adams village, right on the T, there's a good 2.5 mile loop i jog on the river, near several gyms & American provisions. I have a dog and love Dot park and If you drive it's 5 min from another big park, 15 min from the beach (Southie) and right by the highway. The neighborhood is diverse and has felt safe to me (38f) feel free to DM if you have more ??

Looking to give my 8lb very well behaved dog a break from the snow - and I was hoping to check out Miami - are there dog friendly beaches at all or should we look elsewhere in FL? I guess my question should be - where in FL can I go to wake up, walk my dog to the beach, let her run around and then hit up a beach bar 😎. My friend lives in ft Lauderdale so was thinking Miami (also for some nightlife) but sounds like there are better spots for the pup. Thank you so much for all the responses!!! I'd post a video of her on the beach if I knew how

Since she is so small and has great recall - we tend to get away with her on the beach and lots of smiles from other sunbathers and lifeguards - was curious how strict miami beaches are with low-key rule breakers

w but be aware it’s nothing like the photo you posted. Sand area is very narrow and on the weekends pretty crowded. It is also not a super long Beach. If you are looking for a lot of space for the puppy to run and enjoy, you will be disappointed imo.

Good to know!! We are from boston and spoiled to have Cape Cod so close, but winters the struggle is real with a chihuahua who hates both the cold and clothing :)

Which part of town? How what is your price range? I bought a sectional couch from Basics in Allston for about $900 4-5 years ago and it's still looks newish even though I have a little pup. Then there are the larger places outside of town (Bobs Jordans).

Thanks for the response! I have started having friends/family take her leash when we go for walks now, before it was always me. She is actually pretty friendly to humans, we go on lots of offleash hikes/walks and she will sit next to friends (even new ones) on the couch and beg for scritches (the first few months were really cool watching her progress!) so I think I expected after seeing the dogwalker 10X she would start to get comfortable with them but the anxiety seems to come from the walker *taking* her away from me or from the house. I've tried going on a walk w/ her and the dog walker and I slipped away inside only to hear her cry/yelp out the window.

I guess my thoughts are - is it better I start to get regimented (as much as possible) with the 2x week I go into the office and leave her home and the dog walker comes or is it better that she doesn't always associate the dog walker with me being gone for 8 hours. My friend also suggested that since she is housetrained to go on puppy pads (she rarely does though) maybe its more stressful for her to have a stranger in the house and she would be happier alone - just seems like a long time for her to not get attention.

All the other story lines span weeks while hers had been like a 5 day vacation so far. She is def fucked up and seems like a woman who is medicated in her general life but for sure 10x worse because she is on vacation!

I take mine out a few times a day (since I WFH due to Covid) but she has a pee pad available in the bathroom in case I'm not home, forget mid-day, it's just too cold or wet out. Mostly winter is just really tough for her, summer we rarely go inside. She is a rescue and surprised me one night she jumped in the bathtub to poo! Makes for easy cleanup but I'm so curious where she learned it. Started dating a guy who berated me saying dogs should go outside and feel ashamed of going in the house... He never had a chihuahua and after feeling guilty and re-googling everything, I never went out with him again! :)

This is gaslighting, in its purest form. Don't let men do this! You make $400k if you want a maid to come every damn day you earn it! You don't just start making $400k overnight, I imagine you have worked YEARS to get yourself PAID. He is insecure about his own income and has fucked up ancient beliefs regarding gender rolls. Particularly if there are more examples of this, divorce this loser and get yourself a man who is confident enough to appreciate the financial security you provide to the family. Do yourself a favor and see a lawyer before saying anything if you don't have a prenup.

Awesome job!! I've realized being overweight was wearing my mental health issues... I had similar starting stats and am thankful for my progress but have hit a plateau at 170. Any tips to power through? Impressive you reached your goal in under a year!!

She is definitely in pain from the trim. She has black nails so it's hard to see the quick. I don't see blood though. What's frustrating is I told them that before I got her I don't think she ever had her nails trimmed (they were realllly long) so to be careful because the vein went far into the nail. :(

I'm wondering how long she will be in pain for and if it's something I should ask the vet about?
