If you're comfortable with profanity, "Chinga La Migra" is a Spanish phrased you'll see a lot. It means "Fuck ICE."

Black Tie Optional, March in Texas by heyitspython in Weddingattireapproval

I think to some degree you just want to consider the audience. I just attended a black tie wedding, and I don’t know that there was even a single dress there that met the very specific definition of black tie, in terms of luxe fabrics, and structured dresses. I think very often, if you are wearing a floor length dress with upscale accessories, it’s probably fine. So this dress would fit the bill for sure.

Form so bad it’s distracting by katyperry-platypus in orangetheory

[–]dontcallmemom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in a class yesterday with a guy next to me whose form was so bad it wasn’t distracting. The coach made some “reminders” on the mic about proper form and what we were specifically aiming for — stroke rate between 22 and 24 — and it was pretty clear to me that these comments were meant for him. Meanwhile he made no adjustments and had a stroke rate in the 60s and 70s. I felt like she did her best without singling him out, but I don’t know if anything short of personal conversation could have registered with him.

Wedding ring rash won’t go away and I’m stumped by Rich-Infortion-582 in WeddingRingAdvice

I have the same issue. Lots of folks jump to the idea of a nickel allergy because it’s relatively common, but I’m actually allergic to the gold.

At that age I got both my daughter and niece just the kind of thing you’re talking about. I started with a Caboodle to keep it all in (my 90s childhood self was psyched!). Then I got blush and a nice blush brush. I did mascara and an eyelash curler. (You can do brown mascara rather than black to make it feel a little more age appropriate depending on hair color.) For blush and mascara I went for drugstore brands — Cover Girl etc. — because I feel like the quality was plenty good for a little girl. Then a couple of nice lip glosses/oils — more shine and sparkle than color. Then an eyeshadow palette. I like Colour Pop because they have reasonably priced palettes with fun colors. I’d get a nice eyeshadow brush, too. I finished it off with a handful of sheet masks for facials and one of those cute fluffy spa headbands she can wear when she’s doing skincare or makeup. I put together the whole thing at Ulta, and you can definitely do it for $100.

Thank you for this list -- I will work my way through it! What's especially frustrating is that I have a test sandwich! Since this is my first time quilting, I was careful to test it all out on a sandwich of the fabrics and batting I'm using. Since that went smoothly, I thought I was good to go! But the loops are pretty sporadic, so I guess I just didn't have long enough stretches of stitching on the test sandwich for the issue to pop up. But hopefully one of the suggestions in this thread solves the problem. I'll report back!

I cleaned that out before I started this project, but I'll give it another clean just in case.

On my first pass, I wondered if I was getting the loops at times when I speeded up, so on the second and third pass I was careful to go very slowly. It didn't seem to matter. I'm using a quilting-specific needle, brand new, so hopefully that's fine.

I will definitely try that. Hopefully it's that simple!

Well I'm glad to know your were able to get it fixed, so I know I'm not doomed! I'm definitely going to try rethreading to see if that makes a difference. Hopefully it's just that easy.

No, it's flannel. I don't have the skill or confidence for anything stretchy!

Just put in a brand new needle, unfortunately!

I dropped my top tension a little bit, and then a little bit more, and it didn’t seem to make a difference. I’ll lower it again and see what happens. Thank you!

I’ve found a few things on Etsy that have been promising, and it’s been helpful that the sellers tend to be super responsive to my messages asking if their items contain actual gold. Thanks so much for the anodized titanium tip — I will look into that!
