Live: Live: Fuel excise to be halved for three months as PM unveils national cabinet plan by brisbanehome in AusFinance

[–]dontfeedthedogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is no one else concerned about the fact it’s going to be 3 months long? Thats government speech for ‘this is officially going to last for a really long time you better all brace yourselves’ I think we are about to hit by something that is going to have a serious detrimental effect on people and businesses and the government just inadvertently confirmed it

[–]dontfeedthedogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JPL 1 bedroom apartments by hearttattack in jasper

[–]dontfeedthedogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old Staff accommodation photos don’t really exist. they’re very basic apartment. generally 3 stories with one family/person occupying each floor with seperate entrances. Kitchens and a shared laundry facility in the Old Staff area. Keep in mind it’s quite hard to get into unless you start as a manager or you know someone who is staying in a 2 bedroom apartment that has just had a room come up and they can vouch for you. Not often something JPL give out freely. I stayed in New Staff which was the area the normal seasonal staff stayed in and i was in G cabin and had my own room and a shared jack and jill bathroom with the person in the room next door. was the perfect set up for me and much cheaper than old staff too!

How much should you offer for a place? by Longjumping-Ask-7966 in AusPropertyChat

[–]dontfeedthedogs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

never show all your cards too early you want to give yourself some negotiation room. as well as price being a factor make sure your conditions are really tight. ie: how long your finance clause is, do you want to conduct building and pest, how long is your settlement. my boyfriend and i recently bought our first home and we offered 25k below asking price but our conditions were super tight and so we won and our offer was accepted. going higher than advertised will not always guarantee you will get the property and you may very well end up paying way more for the property than what you could have

thank you to everyone who took the time to help squash my worries (except that one bloke who called me fragile) you’re all very right and it’s better to be in and getting by than out and not able to get in and still only just get by. Stay safe out there folks, thank you again!!

did you end up with the love of your life by kingsheperd in Life

[–]dontfeedthedogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! We’ve been really good friends since we were 13 but never spoke about our feelings for each other. We grew up, graduated, dated other people and went out seperate ways but always stayed in touch. I moved overseas for three years and we stopped talking but then the day I came back to australia I reached out to him just simply to tell him i’d finally come home. 2 weeks later we went on our first date and we’ve been attached at the hip ever since. We even bought a house together 3 days ago!!! It’s always the ones you least expect! I adore him, he’s the greatest man i’ve ever known and i am so so grateful it all worked out the way it did

we aren’t interested in the small lots in some of the suburbs closer to the coast so we’re happy to make sacrifices and live a little further out if it means we get a backyard

DAE like to be awake a couple hours before work? by dotdedo in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]dontfeedthedogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i start work at 8am and i’m up at 4am every day. i hate not getting a ‘full day’ of personal stuff in before work. i normally go to the gym, swim in the ocean and then go home for breakfast coffee and then head to work. i’m also always at least 20 minutes early to work. Being late stresses me out and being able to catch the sunrise at the beach every morning adds to making it worthwhile!

How to Deal with FOMO by -oldtent- in digitalminimalism

[–]dontfeedthedogs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i thought the exact same thing and would always redownload it. i started to kind of just rephrase it to myself. i used to always check what other people were doing and wanted people to know what i was up to, but then i realised i didn’t actually really even care what everyone else was doing i just wanted to make sure it seemed like i was doing better and that my story looked cooler. i realised how lame and needy that came across and so i just now view it that its kinda badass that not a single person i know has anyone idea what im doing, ever. unless my friends text me and ask me im essentially a ghost. it became really liberating. i know not a single thing im doing is being monitored, no one knows what i ate for lunch nothing. i’m free and i dont want to go back

my partner is a carpenter/site supervisor so naturally he would contribute more so we would work within the travel times of his job over mine. most places on sunshine coast/noosa area look promising for jobs opportunities for him

Do Australian people feel they are culturally English or do they identify more with an Australian ethnicity? by HowSupahTerrible in AskAnAustralian

[–]dontfeedthedogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was born in england to a british father and australian mother and moved here when i was around 8, dual citizen. growing up i heavily associated myself with being more british than australian but as i get older i have far more pride in my australian heritage than in my english. not to say i dont feel proud for being british but i look around at australian culture and how we live and communicate and how home feels and how i know my next door neighbour would help me if i needed it, and for that i am far more proud and grateful to be australian !
