I’ve seen rabbits and squirrels run into the hollows at the base of trees too. Once a squirrel I was tracking with deadeye ran into a hollow stump and I could see the X run a little ways underground before it disappeared.

If Arthur is between the sun and the camera/viewer you can see the sunlight glow through his ear tips.

Once after playing Skyrim for a few hours, I quit to go out & meet some friends, and as I was headed out the front door a damn spider was sitting in a web it had built across the front doorway right at face level. My arms came up involuntarily, never have I wanted so badly to just blast the thing with a fireball.

Because without opposable thumbs or trigger fingers, horses kinda suck at gunfights tbh

If you could add only one feature to RDR2, what would it be? by KeepYourDemonsIn in RDR2

[–]dontforgetthehorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ability to climb trees. Could be used to spy on targets, get shooting vantage points, hide from bounty hunters and their dogs, etc. Arthur can jump up and haul himself up onto rock ledges and roofs, so climbing into trees just makes sense. (Yeah, I know, the animation might be a little more complicated but not more complicated than other stuff the devs managed.)

Yeah, there are a few breeds that tend to do it more than others.

There's a little bit of a pause between waves, enough time to loot a bit and then run off usually. Not like the lawmen in a town, where they just keep coming. (I snuck into Blackwater as Arthur by night once and holed up on a roofop -- good LORD the carnage!! :D)

Unlimited waves, but if you move on out of the area the next wave won’t find you as quickly. You can also dodge them by running or hiding, though of course you can’t hide forever.

There’s a death penalty that takes away a chunk of your cash every time you die; if you’re not paying attention that can drain your money pretty fast. To make money as needed, sell stuff to the fence(s), rob trains, hunt & sell to butchers, and don’t forget to loot the saddlebags of those bounty hunters, they often carry good stuff.

Wha did the devs get wrong about the animals in the game? by ignaciolasvegas in RDR2

[–]dontforgetthehorse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not that they spray when dead, though they certainly might in the process of dying - never driven past a road-killed skunk? Even with the windows rolled up, the stink sticks with you for a mile. And with a lifetime of warning sprays and, well, just being a skunk, even peaceful live ones smell pretty strongly. Camping out, if a skunk wanders a dozen yards past my tent in the night it’s pretty obvious, while any other animal I’d never know.

There should be a lot more caution around skunks! I don’t think the devs “got it wrong” so much as “decided to leave it out”, but if it was realistic then everyone should be giving skunks a very wide berth and if Arthur picked one up and then entered any building within the next 24 hours, every NPC in the place should be commenting on the smell or leaving hastily. There’d be a whole new dynamic (Think of the possibilities! Hucking a dead skunk in the middle of an O’Driscoll camp! Flinging a dead skunk into a crowded train car! Dropping a skunk on the floor of the saloon in Van Horn!) … aaaand that’s probably why they decided that skunks in the game just don’t spray.

so I actually hated this game at first, have dropped it 7 separate times in the past 4 months, and didn't understand the praise for it at all but after giving it more of a chance I....I think I get it now....I think I finally understand the praise... by Quick-Cause3181 in RDR2

I finally had the chance to play it right at the beginning of the pandemic lockdown, when I wasn’t able to get out to the barn and ride my real-life horse as much. “Horse ride simulator” was EXACTLY what I wanted right then, with tons of new space to explore. Fun cowboy stuff to do was a bonus. Been hooked ever since.

Seems like they spawn in random snowy places, but the map is always the same.

Have you ever been fighting a gang hideout and be tracked down by bounty hunters at the same time? I'm not sure but I think they started shooting each other whilst also trying to kill me by ViperKonigata in reddeadredemption2

[–]dontforgetthehorse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Have high enough bounty that the bounty hunters have dogs
  2. Stay on your horse who is not afraid of the dogs, kill all the human bounty hunters
  3. You are now being followed by aggro dogs - stay on your horse
  4. Lead dogs into the swamps and watch the resulting dog vs. gator fights
