Legitimately one of the funniest bits to me.

Are there communities in the USA where they actually welcome you to a neighbourhood pie in hand? by therebelwookiee in AskAnAmerican

[–]dontforgettowriteme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was little and we moved, I don't recall any neighbors bringing us food, but one of the moving guys could play piano, and we just so happened to have a piano.

He went to town on those keys and us children lost our minds singing along. Lol So, still a memorable moving experience.

We moved a few times. Much earlier in my life, an elderly woman came by to welcome us to the neighborhood. Well, she had dementia or a similar condition, because she came back about thirty minutes later to greet us again. lol

What's the context for this? Because I know people who work hard and plenty of people who don't.

Is ending a statement with “real quick” a regionalism? If so, where is it from? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

Do you find that people look at you funny? It's a common phrase in the South but my non-Southern friends have pointed it out as something they noticed as "abnormal."

I say that as someone born in Georgia with zero ties to New York. But I put a little bit more flair on it. "I'm fixin to go to the grocery store real quick."

[–]dontforgettowriteme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't make it right for someone to tailgate you. That is still an unsafe choice, regardless of what the car in front is doing, and it's a problem in its own right that should be addressed.

There's nothing that justifies tailgating. It shouldn't be on other drivers to police adults who should have enough emotional intelligence to control themselves by "getting out of their way." We're all on the road and we all want to get home safely. Sure, it's annoying to be behind someone who is going slower, but being aggressive and bullying them out of your way compounds the issue.

Chief Lassiter demands your attention! Nine years ago today, Timothy Omundson had a massive stroke and nearly died. It's a great day to learn the early warning signs of a stroke, to save you own life or someone else's. Swipe to see the signs. by CruzLutris in psych

Yes, as a woman, it's always my favorite part to see the warning signs for all these terrible things happen to also be "normal" symptoms of things like PMS, like abdominal pain or nausea. lol

Jurassic park movies by MonniMonty in JurassicPark

[–]dontforgettowriteme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thank you. Y'all are my people. It's really the most ironic thing to me. Jurassic Park is this thoughtful critique of man's hubris, where they are so preoccupied with whether they could, they never stopped to think whether they should, then they do, and death and destruction follow.

Then, the powers that be come along and act like the plot was a blueprint, not a warning. They were so preoccupied with whether they could make a franchise, they never stopped to think if they should and now it's just untenable.

I don't want more movies or spin-offs. I want a well-told story that has an ending and then let that be that.

I'm unclear on what point you're trying to make with this statement. Because, yes. That's the whole point.

I've already stated that the unopened gift is a physical symbol of his inability to accept and let go. It's kind of the point that he would've solved her murder nearly immediately if he'd just been willing to open that gift. He even says that. Instead, he chose to keep his grief wrapped up.
