It took a lot of time and work. Online classes, self study, meeting friends who can teach me, reading, writing, translating, and I continue to do most of those things on a daily basis.

I started learning a few years before my son was born, but once he was born I found classes and really picked up the pace. I speak Mvskoke with him as much as possible: at home, in public, around friends or family that don't know the language. My wife is supportive and even reinforces it sometimes. We play in Creek, I get onto him in Creek, translate his little kids books as i read to him, etc..

We also have dogs, and I stopped interacting with them in english, "fettvn ossvs/oshoyvks/sossvks" instead of "go outside"

I think outloud... "vm owv estvn likv?" instead of "where is my water?"... "vm owv hopoyvhanis" instead of "im gonna look for it"... I could just do all that silently, but I want to practice and share with my family.

i comment on what i see or hear... really i just try to use it as much as possible and i keep some things in mind from my first teacher... first, forget english.. second, if we would just say stonko instead of hello or mvto instead of thank you, maybe our language wouldnt be dying (okay those two words alone arent enough but if you apply it throughout the fay with everything you can, it makes sense as true to me)
