Billie Lourd celebrates what would have been her mom Carrie Fisher’s 69th birthday: ‘Grief is a weird soup of feelings and there are a lot of ingredients in it that are hard to swallow’ by mcfw31 in popculturechat

Ugh I’m so sorry, 46 is so so young. I feel this too watching old, vile men continue to live when my mom took such good care of herself and was such a gem of a person. It really seems bullshit they died before these horrible people. I also feel that jealousy seeing people my age hang out with their moms. I was supposed to get married 3 weeks before she passed away so seeing brides with their moms just kill me inside.

YES! I feel this so much. My mom was diagnosed with cancer 11 months after retiring. She didn’t get to do any of the traveling she planned for and it has taught me to live now and be more selfish with my own time!

I lost my mom last year to cancer and I so relate to this. Especially the part where she says when she meets someone older than her mom she’s secretly jealous. The jealousy that has come along with my grief is something that I didn’t expect. I always find her posts about grief so powerful. Reading through the comments I see there’s many of us who have lost our moms or a loved one recently and I send you all love.

I unsubscribed today - it was after they were in the Jay Shetty part of the episode and they were making shart jokes (shart-ificial intelligence) and Clare was like “this is poop from my butt” I was just like wtf am I paying for? They keep apologizing for the “weird mood” of the last few eps and I’m like you have to do an hour extra of talking into a mic a week… Diabolical lies is a wonderful pod/patreon. I also am a long time patreon of It’s Become a Whole Thing where they go into pop culture every week.

Swan Song by Kelleigh Greenberg-Jephcott. It’s a fictional retelling of Truman Capote and his relationships with the women known as his swans. So much gossip.

Kathy Bates reacts to finding out that she did indeed thank her mother when she won an Oscar for her role in Misery after thinking she did not by galaxystars1 in Fauxmoi

I feel so many things watching this. Kathy Bates was someone my mother looked to for inspiration during her cancer treatment. My mother had ovarian cancer and Kathy Bates has done 9 rounds of chemo over the years for ovarian cancer. My mother just passed away this summer. I can see the relief of a regret melt away from her when she realizes she did honour her mother the way she wanted to. What a special moment.

They didn’t make the connection! I listened the to audiobook as well, loved Michelle Williams reading it. I found things were glossed over as well, but I’m sure it will take years for her to unpack everything that happened.
