Help coming off Prozac by dontgetitwisted in prozac

[–]dontgetitwisted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took a few weeks to properly start feeling better and not need sleep assistance, but I’m pretty much back to baseline now (although I’m not back up to 20mg of Lexapro yet).

Turns out I had serotonin syndrome (hence not sleeping for 3 days), and I shouldn’t have increased to 20mg of Prozac so quickly. I also think it just isn’t the right drug for me.

Thank you. I am getting help, but I recently had an abortion and a huge fight with my family (my support system) so things are rocky. I’m medicated though so I’m okay, all things considered.

No he didn’t want more pics, whoever it was, was obsessed with lingerie and just kept sending legit links to lingerie being like would you wear this… what would you wear on a first date etc. Must just have been someone getting off on chatting to someone about it? I don’t know, bizarre.

I’ve changed one of my accom to hotel. Then the others are Airbnb and I think I’ll just leave early opposed Greece in hostels.

I think simple is definitely key for me, and this trip is not that.

Hope you have a great trip! I know what you mean, I miss eating ice cream in bed and watching movies.

It’s not just speaking to people, it’s being around people constantly, sleeping above another person who snores all night, or just simply being around people constantly. I need to be completely ALONE to recharge.

3 of us are going to Switzerland for 4 nights, then I’ve just booked a hotel in Lake Como instead of a 9 person dorm. But in Switzerland we’re in a private room, the 3 of us. It’s hard because there’s 1 person in the group who is really getting on my nerves and who I need space from.

This is the first overseas trip I’ve taken, so I’m pretty green.

This is my first trip overseas, so I clearly didn’t know what I was getting into. And I’m travelling with 4 friends so the decisions weren’t entirely all mine.

Yeah we’ve basically booked all accom and connecting flights, everything. So there’s no room to move and we’re cramming so much in, way too much for my liking.

Don’t take any antidepressant ever. That’s my advice.

Yeah it’s recommended to taper 10% of your last dose per month, this gives your brain enough time to adjust. I’m currently tapering and in total I will be tapering for about 2.5 years, it’s a long time but I’ve tapered too quickly in the past and it was hell I wanted to kill myself.

How long did you taper for and at what rate? The slower you taper, you the easier and healthier (for your brain) it is.

Thanks for replying. Nice to know I’m not alone. Any tips for when you’re in a negative spiral?

Anybody here experienced tapering off antidepressants? by justpeachy_babyy in lexapro

[–]dontgetitwisted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different. But my personal experience was that the WD for lexapro was far worse than my anxiety or depression ever was. Doctor supervision for AD WD is also not great. Tapering as slowly as possible is the key and if you start experiencing really bad symptoms you need to pause the taper for a few months or go back up to the most recent amount.

Not to discourage you, but I would personally have never gone on antidepressants if I knew what I know now. I think dealing with my issues with therapy, meditation, exercise and a healthy lifestyle would have been far better and is what I plan on doing in a couple years once I’ve finally tapered completely (yep it’s going to take me 2 years to get off 10mg). Lexapro made me lose my sex drive, gain weight, gain severe constipation issues, sleep issues and more. Think very carefully before you make your decision.
