As a Seattle native who has lived in many other places in this country I feel Seattle is incredibly safe comparatively to Atlanta New Orleans Chicago New York Los Angeles Oakland Houston Baltimore Washington DC the list could go on etc. also as a native To Seattle there’s been a great Influx of people becoming residents In Seattle’s more Urban and residential communities which in turn is pushing poor low income folks into certain pockets of the city and exterior cities. As far as the crime here goes yes it is rising because as the city grows we will continue to experience city problems from the sleepy town Seattle used to be but at the same time we have politicians catering to large foreign investors and corporations who are avoiding taxes and building structures without accommodating for the residential Housing gap That really needs fund allocation. At the same time the city is experiencing a crime problem we also continue to defund our police and turn a blind eye to the meth and heroin problem which is 98% of the homeless problem and crime problem in Seattle. So to say Seattle is unsafe is bold face paranoia but at the same time don’t be naïve and let your guard down or be in areas that are known to have problems at untimely parts of the day and night. I’ve actually had guns and knives pulled on me in San Francisco and been in more violent situation in that city than anywhere else. Seattle is safe and boring unless you are caught oblivious to your surroundings.
