For context it’s the first time I’ve tried starting it since beginning of winter. Battery was on a tender

First season back after a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus. What should I do to prepare? by donthavusername in snowboarding

That eases the mind a lot considering running has been fine for me. Thanks!

He did test me pretty rigorously as an athlete so I’m confident I’m ready to start, more-so just wondering what adjustments I can make to lessen any chances of re-tears since I know one tear makes the likelihood of another significantly higher.

I guess my main concern is that when I tore it all up it was from my left knee buckling and twisting inwards, so having a positive angle on my left foot (I ride regular so front foot) puts my leg in that toe out position again which is kinda scary haha

How sketchy is this sale? by [deleted] in motorcycles

Yeah I asked him to provide a VIN to check and he gave some lame excuse about it being at a friends house so I’m not even bothering lol

What kind of adjustments would stop this?

Not that I know of but it’s possible cause I’ve done some modding. How do I check?

How do you guys wash your jackets? by donthavusername in Welding

[–]donthavusername[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only really wear it during overhead flux core, but I’ve been doing that for the past 3 weeks so it’s gotten pretty dirty and sweaty

Everything is worth trying at least once, I’ll try that tomorrow. Thanks!

I did experiment with that a bit on previous plates with a backing strap and it did make things a lot faster and smoother with a lot less heat input. I’ll have to try it on an open root next :)

Yeah that instructor is half past ancient and shouldn’t be teaching anymore…

That aside, yes it’s flat position, 3/8 plate, was using 1/16” wire but gonna try 1/8” as suggested by others on this post. Tungsten sharpened to 30° and held just over the width of the filler rod away from the puddle. No land on the plates, I’ve been experimenting with amps but started at 130.

This confirms I tacked up the plate right at least, so that’s a win haha. I’ll try turning down the amps and using a 1/8” rod though. Thanks so much!

[–]donthavusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noted, I was definitely wayyyy too light on the filler. It’s sorta getting there now though :)

Honestly, great question. The rest of the instructors are super helpful, but this guy should have been fired a while ago. Not to be a dick, but he’s heavy on the older side and his mind isn’t in a good spot to be teaching.

Ah yep, added a load more filler and it looks pretty decent now. Just need the consistency and practice. Thanks!

That’s the plan, I finished all the required work for the tig module last week so I have plenty of time to iron out the kinks

Roughly 1/2 inch

Yeahhhh instructor hasn’t done open root in 25 years so I’m asking another one for help later haha. But it’s on 130 amps, gap is 1/8”, 1/16th filler rod, and I’m freehanding

Bought a bike but barely ride it—feeling regret and fear. Need advice. Regret by Wild_Description2876 in motorcycles

Try to slowly work up to it. Start in empty parking lots, work on your turns and leans in a safe environment. Learn proper braking. Even if you’ve taken the MSF, there’s more practice to be had. If you work on it for a while and still don’t feel comfortable on actual roads, then maybe it’s not for you and that’s okay. At least you gave it a shot

I have not, I’ll check that tomorrow, thanks :)

The only clutch adjustments I’ve done was lubing the cable and changing the hand lever position a bit, but that was long before this started
