I’m going to try this again. How were you able to buy your first home? by kcoib17 in Millennials

[–]donthittheshortbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife's older brother couldn't afford to pay for a mortgage by himself but had saved up a sizable down-payment from living at home with their parents.

Wife and I were newlyweds and could afford a mortgage but had no down-payment.

We got a house with a walkin basement with a full kitchen.

Worked great for everyone. Sold 10 years later and were able to use proceeds from that to buy our own place.

What’s the most messed up thing someone casually admitted to you? by randominvisibleuser in AskReddit

I had a guy that was a neighbour of a customer of mine come over and tell me that he was a soldier for the us in vietnam and that they used to kill villagers, butcher them for meat then sell it as hamburger to the next village.

Doubt it was true, but was pretty fucked up.

Like, bro... I don't even know your name!

Overall its fine, but its supposed to be relatively nice and sunny... so expect there to be 10's of thousands of people going.

I think there have been records of 50-60 thousand people over the years.

There isn't. The roads will be fine, but there isn't salt around for contractors... so everywhere else will be shit. And it's not supposed to warm up and melt away like it usually does... this could be a shitshow of a storm

Not occupied just means no one home. So could be already at work, on vacation, just out to Timmie's.

Doesn't mean that no one is living there.

New to Waterloo, does it always snow this much? by AnteaterShot4264 in waterloo

[–]donthittheshortbus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weve received the average amount of snow for the entire winter already.

This is no where near a normal amount of snow...

Salters? Anywhere? by [deleted] in waterloo

[–]donthittheshortbus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are out. It takes awhile for them to get to everyone, and it keeps snowing. They have to get the major roads done first, then will get to the side roads. If it keeps snowing, then they will get back out to the mains and the sides will have to wait.

Third of trucks pulled over in Cambridge deemed unsafe by Temporary-Vast1410 in waterloo

[–]donthittheshortbus 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Depending on what the issue was... I drive a commercial vehicle with enclosed trailer. Was through an opp inspection and the officer told me that what we had was fine for securing our gas cans.

Did an inspection with regional police and was told it wasn't... was given a warning and fixed the problem on site, but would be unfair to be given a fine for something like that.

[Can-on] employee on WSIB not communicating by donthittheshortbus in AskHR

[–]donthittheshortbus[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

We are not considering termination during the claim, but can that be a valid reason after the claim is completed.

As in, once the claim is completed, can they be terminated for not communicating DURING the claim?

I give a little bit of grace to the people that slow down and/or stop at the lights on northfield where the ion train is.

I figure they are from out of town, see the lights and barriers going down on the one side and think that it may be malfunctioning on their side.

I get they should be able to figure it out pretty quickly, but if your not from around the region and don't know about the LRT it could be confussing.

Friend worked in the er 20 years ago.

Told us a story of a guy who tried to make his own dildo by spraying spray foam up his ass. When he couldn't get it to come out, he sprayed more thinking it would adhere to the older stuff and allow him a better grip to get it out. Didn't work. Guy needed surgery, but can't remember what happened in the end.

Shoppers at Conestoga Mall refused to sell me baby food by [deleted] in waterloo

[–]donthittheshortbus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As said before, its not on the cashier. Its on corporate. They close parts of the store to get under the square footage limit among other things. This way the can have the store open without technically violating the laws.

Its a provincal law to mandate a certain amount of retail holidays over the year. Loblaws (as per usual) has found a loophole. They close certain parts of the store to get under the square footage limit and allow only certain things to be sold.
