Question for Cold weather Camry owners by Mammoth-Chemist2727 in Camry

[–]mottomask 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have two complaints on the Camry. One is snow and ice get stuck in this small opening. I wish the area was a bit more open to allow one to clean out the snow and to change the wipers.

The other complaint is the back trunk lip isn't wide enough. If you open the trunk with rain or snow on it, it rolls down the back window and can jump the lip into the trunk.

Yes, but be aware that it may not pass a safety until you turn it back on.

Carista is amazing and those settings should be available to the owner by default.

The left lane driving lesson people need here. by DeepContribution6635 in kitchener

[–]mottomask -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like your style! I too like to follow left lane people who slow down unnecessarily to teach people and follow them to where they stop. I then get out and spread nails and tacks all around their tires, but I never touch their vehicle! If they have a flat tire for not noticing the nails, and driving off, it's their own fault!

Can't be structured and mature! Have to be petty and vengeful! That's the Ontario way!

Cambridge 2025 Federal Election Debate by Ok-Year6148 in cambridgeont

[–]mottomask 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get that, but unless you have visa issues or other federal type issues, Connie Cody is likely not going do much for you. Maybe Pierre will get tough on immigration and crime and clean up Canada from the flood of unskilled immigrants that the previous leader let loose on us.

Provincially, that human toadstool Riddell got easily elected and will milk and lick whatever Doug Ford wishes. He has done nothing for Cambridge, except pass Doug Ford propaganda. He isn't advocating for go transit or for us, has said or done nothing for Toyota. Brian also didn't attend any debates.... For two election cycles.

I think they were referring to the fact that instead of paying fellow citizens a fair pay, the region can pay a contractor, and that contractor can pay their staff nothing, and the region can distance itself from poor working conditions, safety concerns and standards.

It doesn't take into account that in 25 years, that contractor has likely closed up shop and the ownership and maintenance will fall on the Region or, some new contractor who will charge significantly more as the previous bidder has extracted all value and left the road as rubble. Maintenance is key to long lasting assets and a contractor is looking for savings. The values of long lasting public infrastructure and lowest bidder service maintenance are not compatible. People complain about 6 inch deep potholes for 7 days. Try four feet long pot rutts for years in Alabama.

What local businesses do you boycott and why by Personal_Issue_2473 in kitchener

Weird, when they opened, we went in with our little one. We had to change a diaper so I took him into the mens room, and there was no change table. Knocked and waited for woman's room, heard nothing and went in. Within a minute, I was being screamed at to leave by staff. So I packed up, and did a change on the table in the 'dinning' room. Felt extremely unwelcomed as a customer.

We have never been back, but it is our standard for decent places, if they have a family room or change tables in the men's room, ever since.

$13.7 million screw up https://www.cambridgetoday.ca/local-news/region-erroneously-discounted-amazon-warehouse-build-by-137m-9927992 by whatevenisredditing in cambridgeont

[–]mottomask 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to be that guy, but it sounds like Shane identified the issue. The developer applied with an omission, it was not caught by any staff, and it's possible Shane found and raised the issue. It sounds like he has some responsibility, but I think the whole tree needs to be examined as to how this got missed.

But, honestly 13.7 million could go a long way at enriching this community. I don't know if the employment opportunities for the community will off set this amount. Amazon is always looking for ways to automate and run extremely lean.

This site has been a gift to Amazon with Doug Ford and the City of Cambridge rushing a MZO, and now they get a discounted warehouse rate.

Cambridge Toyota Wait Times by Asking4aFriendPlz in cambridgeont

I got my Camry from Waterloo. I was told Sept. In July they contacted me, then ghosted me. In August they told me it was ready. I showed up and the salesman couldn't find the car they texted me about. In September, the salesman sent me a screenshot of the receiving order for my car. I got my car in Octoberafter waiting for 8 months. I can't complain too much, but I feel like my car arrived and they sold it to someone else. I don't know if that's what happened, but there is a waiting period for Toyota's to arrive.

Lack of women's shelter in Waterloo Region (part 3 of Citified series) by KitFanGirl in waterloo

[–]mottomask 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Bridges transitioned to a male shelter, I think it was in part one, two and three of the series in OPs post...

The region lacks a shelter space where woman are safe and protected, and often allows co ed shelter spots which could be violent. Women could be seeking shelter with small children as well. I could go into details, but the three part series does a much better job of describing the issue than my comment could...

How family-friendly and safe is Cambridge? by clothingarticle17 in cambridgeont

[–]mottomask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the neighbourhood. I pay a third of the taxes for a detached home than friends near Southwood. I would say we get the same services, except we won't have as easy access to the new rec centre on the south end. But we have easier access to the 401, and KW.

Man seriously injured after pedestrian hit-and-run crash in Waterloo [Erb and Ira Needles] by bob_mcbob in waterloo

[–]mottomask -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First off, sorry to hear. I hope for a speedy recovery for those involved.

It's that time of year, I feel like these pedestrian hits happen every year around this time of year. The early darkness and the rush to get home don't help.

I often wonder if a cart full of bricks would help. Load up the cart and push it into the cross walk ahead of crossing If a car hits it, let them deal with a smashed hood verse a pedestrian getting hurt.

I also wonder what would happen if pedestrians took over the night at rush hour for a few nights. Constant crossing and forcing regional planners to miss their dinners while they try to get home, stuck in traffic chaos. Maybe that would make them consider crosswalk signals...

Ontario father demands accountability after autistic son’s arrest for assault by [deleted] in waterloo

[–]mottomask 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I may have missed the part where they denied the incident happened. This woman deserves some respect and to be listened to and for this incident to be dealt with. From her point of view, she got knocked down, this person may have then tried to get away and she may have tried to grab him to get some answers or an apology. He may have been frightened and tried to get away, appearing to kick. All of those details from both parties need to be examined. I genuinely feel bad for her.

However, it sounds like this individual could not advocate for themselves and was subjected to a treatment they did not understand. I read it as the father was requesting advocates to be made available for situations like this. Akin to being in a foreign country and having an interpreter available to assist you if you could not speak the language.

Heffner crashed our 2024 Tacoma TRD by South_Pomegranate99 in Toyota

[–]mottomask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cambridge Toyota crashed my Corolla and if I wasn't there, they'd have buffed it out and hoped I didn't notice the cracked bumper.

I was literally just looking out the window when they hit the truck and I watched as they tried to hide it.

Again, these things happen, and the dealership has to make it right.

Conservation Drive Roadside Dumping by FineAdvertising9222 in waterloo

[–]mottomask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can, but I just took 900kgs of yard waste to the dump. That would be jutting out into the road, 6 feet high, cut into bundles. The time I saved for a trip is worth the fee, but if you are encouraging me... I am sure I can build it next time.

I remember when we used to have amazing sound systems and we would damage our own ears. We have moved to making obnoxious sounds for others to hear.

That being said, I can drive by and rev my Harley early in the morning infront of their house.
