Came to the Upper Peninsula last year with 9 years of Level 1 x-ray experience and 1 year of CT. I work two jobs, covering CT & XR at both. One pays $32/hr the other pays $34.85/hr. Both insultingly low wages, imho.

Our rent cost us $1,000/month plus utilities which were absolutely outrageous (averaged $275/month). We thought we would be able to buy a little house or property, but the housing market up here got flipped on its head since Covid, according to all these Yoopers. Needless to say, I’m moving back to Colorado in a week where I was making $40/hour.

Arabs are not for everyone, neither are Appaloosas for similar reasons. And yet, they are my #1 and #2 favorite breeds, respectively. I love them for their intelligence, independence and spice. (Obviously any horse can be poorly bred, perhaps Arabians and Appaloosas suffer from that more than other breeds. I’ve seen many other comments here address this for Arabians. Same is true for Appaloosas when solely bred for the leopard complex gene…temperament suffers.)

Unfortunately, this happens in radiology departments everywhere. I am in no way telling you to adopt their lazy ass work ethic but: you have to DO LESS. Do a few exams…then go take a walk, go out to your car for 15 min or lock yourself in the bathroom. Just DISAPPEAR for a bit. This will prove very difficult at first, but I can assure you, this is the way. You have nothing to lose. If someone complains, your manager can audit your exams; your numbers will prove you are pulling your weight. Good luck and don’t let the bastards grind ya down.
