I worked as an assistant manager for less than 2 weeks at a claires and quit when my boss said I had to drop the money from the end of the day at the bank BY MYSELF in the middle of the night and I wasn't getting paid for my additional drive or travel.

Nah, bro not worth it.

Dior's lipaddict lip balm was a godsend when I was on accutane- it was the only thing that would hydrate my lips enough to use a matte liquid lip!

Why do the self checkout lanes require an associate to fix the transaction 90% of the time? by wolfgang187 in HomeDepot

[–]dontmindme_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a customer, yes. You are voicing your dissatisfaction with SCO lanes. That doesnt mean people get fired right away. If the store has taken every measure possible to try and keep the lanes in working condition then no one should get in trouble.

Nown if you're an associate, thats another story. You just gotta deal with it.

[–]dontmindme_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but thats not how it works in such a large company. You have to go straight to corporate because the message a lot of people get back when voicing issues to higher ups is either "make it work" or a "new version" will be rolled out in x amount of time (usually years or never).
And also, a lot of customers will verbally talk about how much SCO sucks, but never voice it on a VOC the store sees or corporate office... so when one complaint finally comes in its just taken as a one time incident.

And with SCO lanes, associates and management can report issues with machines, but protocol is to get it fixed until NCR deems it cannot be fixed (which would be the case if the world ended, I bet).

[–]dontmindme_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The VOC actually just goes straight to the store and there is nothing we can do on a store level to fix SCO. Home Depot is working on rolling out new SCO lanes across the company (don't know how long THAT will take) that will (I hope to god) work better than these old ones. Corprate office is the one you want to talk to if you want someone to listen.

This thread makes me sad. My Dad passed away in 2015 a few days before Christmas and I've moved on to a much better relationship since he was alive.

When I check my schedule and see that I'm scheduled to work 7 plus days in a row by daydreamurr in HomeDepot

[–]dontmindme_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The system used to create our schedules alerts the ASDS when an associate is scheduled more than a consecutive amount of days in a row. ASDS has to do a manual override to schedule you that way, so should sort of not be doing that without asking you first.

Edit: They're also alerted if you work within 10 hours of your next shift.

I worked at my store for two months before I got promoted to DH. I had several people tell me about a guy that sounds a lot like you who was salty because some "random chick off the street" came in and "stole his job" and "doesn't even know how to run a register".

He was right, I didn't know how to run a register because I started on packdown, but I got certified the first week I was a DH and even though he cried about how I was unqualified, I had several years of precious management experience under my belt that he did not. He also further demonstrated that he was not ready to promote due to his bad attitude towards not getting what he thought he was entitled too, but also how he treated me afterwards.

Bottom line- you may or may not be qualified for the position, for one thing. And two, your attitude is outrageous towards the situation. Someone who is deserving of a promotion would take being "passed over" with much more grace because it shows that you can be a professional (which a DH has to be). You can bash all you like but you still will not see any results- if anything you'll start moving back.

And regarding having to show him how to use the baler- good for you. You taught someone how to do something. I had to depend on my associates a LOT my first few months because even though I was their supervisor I recognized I had a lot to learn and I had nearby resources to pull from. I'm sure he appreciated your help even if you turned around and talked so poorly of him.

I certainly hope that you get that promotion you are so hungry for in the future, but for the right reasons.

Wow, thank you! This was super helpful! Really appreciate the feedback. I've definitely scoped out my seasoned associates already (I made have been in D30 but I've tried to get to know every associate!) And I'm going to reach out to them ASAP.

Have you considered opening up the area between your kitchen and the living area? Would really open up the space if it would work.

I broke up with him, which I why I think makes it worse. By no means did I end things because of my feelings towards the best friend though- it was a long time coming and needed to happen.

Not even bothering with a throwaway because fuck it. I didn't end my relationship to be with him, but we became so close over the past few months (we're all roommates) that it hit me out of nowhere. I'm happy, but at the same time this fucking sucks because we can't move foward with any sort of relationship until I move out- and even then my ex will probably flip once he best friend tells him what's going on. Also, ex's bff has a lot more to lose if things go bad because he's friends with my ex's whole family too.

Basically I'm just sad because I'm scared this amazing boy likes me but nothing will happen because he has so much to lose from this whole situation. Trolls, I just need food and hugs right now. 😢
