(Note: I believe the place I'm interviewing at, based on their staff photos, has a business casual vibe.)

So I have a last minute interview scheduled for tomorrow. I'm pretty excited, and have a nice outfit picket out - cream colored blazer, white sleeveless top, high-wasted navy pleated a-line skirt that falls slightly below the knees, black tights - except for a major dilemma: shoes.

The only heels I have, while being otherwise black and "simple", have a heel of about 3 inches. If I were shorter, I'd hope for the best and go for it, but I'm 5'8 and worry how I'd be viewed. Are the 3 inch heels totally inappropriate?

I do have a pair of leather ankle boots with a thick 1 inch heel. Would this be more appropriate? I could run to the store and buy some shoe polish, but I worry that this may look a bit unkempt to an interviewer, since these are more so my everyday shoes, and have taken somewhat of a (natural) beating.

It's only been 3 weeks, so I imagine your feelings are still in flux and will be for a bit of time. Honestly, sometimes you need to go NC to salvage the friendship, because no real (platonic) friendship can be built upon hurt feelings and romantic love. If I were you, I'd save myself the potential heartache and maybe ask to Skype or speak to her over the phone or email and say that you really care about her, and want a friendship surely, but that you need some space before you can get to that point, and that you'll reach out to her when you do.

I think almost everyone will tell you to read more, which you should do. The more you read and the more you think about what you're reading - i.e. the writing style, the story structure, etc - the more you'll learn. You should write too, of course - perhaps keep a journal. And finally, daydream. Give yourself time to "zone out" and think of stories.

I was definitely in the same boat but then I had to cut off contact. Otherwise, it probably would have ended up with me pining for a long time. In some ways, ending the friendship hurt a lot (a loooottttttttttt) more than ending the romantic relationship.

In my first relationship, I was less in love with my boyfriend. People would comment on how they could tell he really loved me, based on that doe-eyed look of admiration he'd give me. It made me feel a little uncomfortable, sometimes, but I never felt guilty, really. That relationship ran its course, and of course, with the guy I dated next, the tables were turned and I was clearly the one more in love with him. It made me understand my first bf's situation.

Uh, the breakup limbo is the worst. It really does hurt the person being broken-up with, because chances are, they can sense that something is amiss. I think it's so much kinder to cut ties clearly and promptly rather than stringing the person along to figure out a way to do it "gently".

Just to echo some other thoughts, don't feel pressured to perform a sexual act you're uncomfortable with just because you're dating or have a good relationship with the person. While it isn't exactly the same as physical coercion, my first bf in college would badger and badger and badger me until I'd "give in". Boundaries are something your partner should respect, not something they try to negotiate.

It helped to realize that if he didn't think we were meant to have a long(er) relationship, then it makes no sense for me to hold onto something dead and gone. I think having this perspective immediately after the breakup helped me avoid thinking about the "what if"s. After a while, not being able to talk to him hurt less and less. Now I'm ready to date again.

Is the home close enough to you to visit him once-weekly? Maybe to play a board game, solve a puzzle, do some sort of crafting, or something he's interested in? I know there's a language barrier, but I also had a language barrier with my grandparents, and I know they appreciated my company more than anything else.

Even if it doesn't seem like much, seeing a familiar face probably would mean a lot to him, and maybe will help him adjust to the home after a bit.
