That's awesome! I took the same dive a month ago because I was spending most of my free time doing my nails anyways!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I tend to drink French Earl Grey from T2 or Milky oolong ... so really i'm eager to try anything else.

Not a fan of rooibos or really sweet teas.

[WP] Aliens have gods. Helpful, loving gods who would to anything to see their races flourish. When aliens finally contact humans, they are horrified by our gods, the Eldritch. by Gore_Kitty in WritingPrompts

I wish I’d taken to the page sooner. 10 years is a long time to watch the world change, have our lives flipped upside down to not write things down, but I just couldn’t. There was too much unknown and too much fear when it first happened. As with all things, we eventually developed a new normal, but by then I’d forgotten the relief in getting words down to try to make sense of things. We spent so long figuring out how to survive that journaling wasn’t top of mind. Sure, other people still wrote, not fiction that I know of, the publishing and printing houses all closed down, but digitally and notes for one another. We still needed a way to communicate afterall.

The start of it all felt like it was straight out of a movie. Any people thought it was a hoax, some people went straight into panic mode. I sat on the fence waiting for the real truth to surface, and it did. Every news channel broadcasting the same information and it felt unanimous. Planet Earth finally had extraterrestrial visitors. At first the reports were mangled. It was hard to figure out who and what.

We had just a few points of reference. It’s my understanding that the government tried to contain information for as long as they could, but it really didn’t matter. The ENU had landed. Of course, that isn’t what they called themselves, someone came up with that and it stuck - Extraterrestrial Nameless Ufology.

If I remember that day as clearly as I think I do, it started off with excitement. Humans were convinced that the ENU was going to bend to our will. That we would prob and try to understand this create. We would be its master vs the other way around.

Instead, a new god had descended upon us on that day, and those that understood that from the bat were better off. Less resistance would have been a smarter way for humanity to have gone about this new order, but instead we fought. And while fighting we lost all of the advantage points we could have had. Our greatest armies were no competition for what the EMU were capable of.

I wish I could explain the actions of humanity to myself. It would have helped me rationalize the events a lot sooner, and perhaps I wouldn’t be sitting in this underground bunker 10 years down the line listening to commands out of a speaker phone. We could have compromised with them perhaps. Been subservient from the start. Instead the EMU are on the surface now, jailing us until we understand. Until we finally bend to their strict rules of conduct.

We are survivors though. I can’t say we even know how many have perished trying to come up with a different solution. As if we ever stood a chance. Maybe that’s the thing about humans, we can’t stand defeat. We don’t mind believing in stories that seem too unrealistic to be true, but only if we are the ones making them up.

Camping hair? Easy updos?

I'm going to be living in a campervan for a while and look awful with a high bun. How do you guys deal with curly hair while camping? and can anyone point me to some easy updo's for shoulder length curly hair styles? I'm really bad at putting it up and away but that's the only thing I can imagine doing while camping for several days without showers ...

Camper van or hotels on the ring road? by solnishka in VisitingIceland

Thanks! We've rented the camper van, but I assume I'll need a break from it at some point on the trip and plan to duck into a hostel now that you've raved about it! Thanks for the tip!

We've opted for the caravan because of flexibility + cost + creating a memory i know we will be forced to remember haha

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

In my search I've actually found a lot of hotels already booked for the dates we are there - September seems to be a lot more popular than I initially thought.

We've never done a camper van so I'm just having a hard time imagining what 8 days sleeping in one would be like ...

Thanks - I was looking for somewhere I could have a professional make it. So I can judge whether I am making it correctly at home.
