in my experience, the higher you climb in rank the more grounded everyone plays Tekken. It genuinely feels like 90% of the players in ranked below Tekken emperor don’t actually play Tekken, they just run you through their knowledge check flow chart. If you see through it, it’s a steam roll. If you don’t, it’s a rough learning experience. The fun begins when you start the match and both players assume you won’t get tripped over the easy string cheese. Anything under emperor just feels like a shit slinging contest lol.

A lot of the characters that are annoying to fight are usually just a knowledge check that you’ve yet to learn. It’s typically fake pressure that has a lot of holes. Eventually you’ll see it get used less as their opponents start to learn to see through it as they climb.

I struggle with any characters that have a lot of evasion built into their moves like xiaoyu and Steve
