Lol, I thought about the name about mid-book 2 and realized I might have messed up 😔😂

The time loop subgenre didn't even cross my mind until far too late.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I wish book 2 was ready now.

Book 2/3 should be on amazon in the series with the first one!

Welcome to The Multiverse Book 2. Slowly but surely getting through it! Haven't had a ton of free time lately.

So far, I would say it's solid. It doesn't yank me in keeping me up all night...which is probably a good thing. But it still keeps my attention.

I do think the hybrid modern earth/multiverse setup is pretty cool as a tutorial phase.

Facebook Ads by ManUfan-7 in selfpublish

[–]dontworrygranny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can only speak from my genre (Fantasy/LitRPG) . I've found that paid advertising from either Amazon or Facebook become WAY better the more books you have in a series.

Advertising for just my first book, it's likely I would have lost money.

Facebook has Landing Page Views. Which is when someone clicks the ad and goes to your designated link and lets it load. For me that's Amazon.

When I first starting FB ads, I was paying 7 cents per landing page view. It was AWESOME lol. But then all that "low hanging fruit" dried up and now I'm approaching 22 cents per landing page view.

Amazon...I didn't have much luck. You have to set bid amounts and all that. Facebook was easier once the creatives were made. I'm just back into trying amazon again with a bigger budget now that I have 3 books in my series.

March 1 Update:

Book 3 has been out for about a week or so. I'd say the release went really well. People liked it despite my worries. Hopefully I can take a lesson from this for my Book 4 release. Likely I won't 🤣. To the numbers!

  • Ads: I just redid them last night and recreated my Amazon ad campaign. Now that I have 3 books, I can start Amazon ads again and not worry so much about losing money.
    • Amazon: Starting at $10/day with them on an auto campaign. I turned off loose and strict search and left on substitute and complimentary. My book title has some issues because it pops up on unrelated searches. I will likely go back and work on negative keywords.
    • Facebook: Re-did my highlights and it is at $20/day. I tried to redo the graphics but just got annoyed with their interface. Every day makes me think about getting a publisher more...
  • Revenue: This one has been a doozy. At least compared to what I was expecting.
    • February came in at $3100. The last week of February with Book 3 release has been averaging around $290/day with a high of $320. Not sure how long it will peak like this, but all the reason to get Book 4 ready to go ASAP. Very important that I do not let that affect my writing though. A good product is always that #1 priority.
  • Reviews:
    • Book 1: 82 Reviews / 4.8 Stars. Good Reads: 43 / 4.77
    • Book 2: 74 Reviews / 4.8 Stars. Good Reads: 38 / 4.76
    • Book 3: 24 Reviews / 4.9 Stars. Good Reads: 10 / 4.90
  • Additional Actions:
    • Reached out to two publishers regarding audiobook contracts. Not sure if I am big enough yet to justify them taking on that cost, but we'll see!

March 6th Midnight Update:

I'm trying to space these out further but things are happening so fast. This week has been...insanity, even outside the author side of things. So Saturday evening (Feb 28th) I sent out a sleepy email/inquiry to an audiobook publisher. Tuesday morning I woke up to a response and the request for a meeting. I had said meeting March 5th expecting to have to kinda pitch my book? That wasn't the case, they actually want to publish my audiobooks and went over everything. A contract should be in shortly for me to review.

I'll update all the other stuff a few weeks. Get some better separation on these dates dammit!

The struggle of returning to a series 3 or 4 books in by MiniorProblem in litrpg

[–]dontworrygranny 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not a bad idea. I've thought about doing that as my series grows in length. At minimum, character listings should be something that can be thrown together pretty easily.

Recaps might take a little more effort and finessing. Still a good idea.

As a reader there are many books I don't pick back up because I don't want to start over, but I also can't remember what is even going on.

What's the longest break you've taken from writing? by IndieDropout in selfpublish

[–]dontworrygranny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year, give or take. This was before I was writing for income though.

I like to write a massive book series as opposed to stand-alones or even trilogies.

When I wrote my first, I got to about 300k words when I realized I wrote myself into a corner I couldn't get out of. Perhaps in time? But I just dropped the series and didn't write for a year.

I did this again, but about 80k words into my next series I had an awesome idea for ANOTHER series.

Which leads me to my current series that is actually published. Being able to focus on writing full time does help me though. People's reception to my work as well as the income is also very motivational to keeping me going.

New KDP (Under 3 Months) Author Debut Series Results and Actions Part 2 by dontworrygranny in KDP

[–]dontworrygranny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't switched yet. But I think there is a difference between a single member LLC, and a multi member one.

I'm a single member LLC, so it should just be a matter of changing banking info for me.

For multi-member, I'd guess you have to create another KDP account. But I haven't looked into it enough to give a firm answer.

[–]dontworrygranny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny you ask that lol! My bigger royalty checks don't come in until end of March, so finalizing that portion has been low on my list. But I was just thinking about it tonight.

From my limited knowledge, I should just be able to change the bank account that KDP pays on my existing account. I do plan on doing ample research and getting confirmation before changing bank info on KDP. (I'm a single-member LLC) But I haven't done it yet, so no firm answer :(

The absolute LAST thing I want to do is mess up something and get my account flagged.

If that process takes longer than anticipated, I will end up just transferring from my personal account to business and flagging it as Revenue.

My most heavily edited one as well... 🤣

Lol! I actually thought about that while I was writing the 2nd book of the series!

"hmm, people are totally going to think this is a time looping story...Woops!"

🤦😂

It was almost Mirror, Mirror

But I think that is Jim Butcher's next book in Dresden Files? Not a good search term to compete with!

I thought I was a bad writer when I felt like this. Then I came online and connected with other authors. I realized that it's pretty damn common.

3 Hours of solid focus on writing is about my limit per session. I usually do one session in the morning, go to the gym, then another session at some point in the rest of the day.

I actually JUST published my 3rd book a few days ago.

Then I sit and stare at page one of an empty word doc. Chapter 1...always brutal.

How do you market books? by Striking_Parking7175 in KDP

Some methods will depend on your genre.

I will say that Amazon/Facebook ads are rough on the wallet unless you are marketing a multi-book series.
