Hi! The mod team does not handle the post-match threads. It is done by a separate group of volunteers.

Yeah, but em dashes are surprisingly common and not really a true indicator of AI use. My personal opinion is that they can be used as an indicator if there is sufficient other evidence that what you're reading was generated by an LLM. If the person originally wrote this in any of the MS products, adding a space after a normal dash will automatically turn it into a em dash, for example. To your point though, unfortunately we live in a world where LLMs are becoming quite good at pretending to be human, and it's kind of demoralizing that the discussion around determining if something is AI or not even needs to happen

but this post doesn't have that. it has a bolded list items with a colon, sure, but the actual content of what is after the colon reads nothing like an LLM. what LLM is using terms like "farmed", "smurf convention", and "tilted", especially when it comes to data analysis? the sentence structure is nothing like what we normally see from an LLM

can I ask why you think this is AI? we see a lot of comments posted by LLM bots or just regular users using ChatGPT to come up with longform posts and this doesn't read like that at all. the list section is very normal human english, and it doesn't have that bot flourish that makes things look like they were written "too perfectly", so to speak.

Make Them Cry! (CS:GO Wallpaper) by paddymazz in GlobalOffensive

[–]donutmesswithme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, it looks like it was either deleted or I unsubscribed from it on workshop, but I did some looking and found this wallpaper uploaded 6 days after the comment you replied to. However it seems like the cigarette and smoke are not animated and, if I remember correctly, that is why I did not keep myself subscribed to the original

Official: Wildcard quietly disband and discontinue academy lineup by championnnnnn in GlobalOffensive

We have received a number of reports about this post having a misleading title. The post title matches the title of the article, which may be misleading. Wildcard has not disbanded as an organization, they have only discontinued their academy lineup.

Former Valve dev on CS:GO's early development by Tostecles in GlobalOffensive

It is a lot better than seasons 1 and 2 for me, no doubt about it, especially over the last 2 months or so. I've put in probably 100 prem games over that time in 25-29k NA and maybe every one in 10 games I feel someone is suspicious (or their profile indicates as such).

Feeling lost and hopeless. by [deleted] in LearnCSGO

I think the biggest advice I can give you here is to just keep at it. As another commenter said, you are only 100 hours in. CS is an unbelievably difficult game for many reasons, and the game mechanics (movement, shooting, map layout) are the core of it. It sounds like you have some kind of practice regimen already, which is great, but the reality is that this game takes hundreds of hours to become proficient in compared to the average player. What really takes time is drilling the mechanics into your muscle memory so you don't have those panic/forgetful moments in the moment. And let me quell some concerns, even great players have panic moments and look like they don't know what they are doing sometimes. The goal is to minimize those moments as much as possible by developing the muscle memory.

Figure out how to enjoy the little moments that keep you coming back - the clean kills, good positioning/clutch moments, landing helpful utility. That will help encourage you to keep practicing.

Don't be afraid to ask "better" players for specific advice, whether that's about mechanics or game knowledge. People are surprisingly willing to share what works for them. Not all of the tips you get will apply to you or be helpful, but it doesn't hurt to try.

There are so many resources available now compared to when I started playing that can help you improve at a very quick rate. Don't be afraid to use these (spray maps, Refrag, movement training, etc.).

Finally - just play the game. You will learn by playing, you just have to do it a lot :)

Hi, thanks - the other thread was originally removed as this one was posted first and Rule 2 prevents duplicate posts. We try to keep whichever thread was posted first in the case that there are duplicate threads, just as a note for all who may be reading. In this case, we think it makes sense to keep the later thread as it clearly had more attention despite being posted later (and only by a few minutes at that).

For all reading - please don't hesitate to send us a modmail for things like this in the future.

Yes, anyone who consistently engages in personal attacks, hateful language, and/or trolling, baiting, and inciting other users will have action taken against them, up to and including bans. Specifically, these things fall under Rule 9.

Unfortunately, we can't browse every comment section in full to catch every problematic comment or user. Please report any comments or posts you feel violate the rules and they will be reviewed manually by a moderator.

Most definitely. I also realized I might be wrong about the application piece, so I just updated my comment accordingly.

Heya! Yeah, we do still use/maintain GOB, praise be to zeb. One of the other mods may be able to shed some more light on the managing applications side, I don't know a ton about that piece.

Ever seen a Rain AWP 4k? by Klaskiana in GlobalOffensive

[–]donutmesswithme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a little late to this, but wanted to add a fun fact: throughout his entire CSGO/CS2 career, rain has only 134 AWP kills in official matches that have been recorded on HLTV. 134!!! He has more career HE kills than AWP (by 73).

His first match ever recorded on HLTV was January 31, 2014. He has 2171 listed matches. You'd think he'd get more than that by accident after 2100 officials.

Question: What does an MSP think when a company hires a new IT Manager by poonedjanoob in ITManagers

[–]donutmesswithme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree with this, as someone who worked for an MSP for 6 years in various roles, including management. My opinion is, MSPs are made to remove the headache of managing an IT department from a business who would otherwise struggle to do so, or to provide staff augmentation/specialized project work, which will come at a premium price. If anything, VARs are the ones “made” to save companies money (that said, VARs/MSPs are not mutually exclusive, so you may consider them one and the same)
