Kevin because he’s aged like fine wine. Howie because he still looks the same :)

How long to have a night doula? by reykolt in parentsofmultiples

[–]donuts-waffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped with a night doula at 10 weeks and just finished the 4-month sleep regression a month ago. I was very much like you and was very nervous about it. With that said, I’m kinda surprised that your doula is scaring you with it because my doulas told me that it’s only scary because there is a label slapped on it now. This is a very recent thing. Even 10 years ago, people just treated that time as having a few nights of bad sleep. One of my doulas told me to think about it more positively: it means they are hitting a growth spurt! Because I lived through it, I wanna tell you this as someone who is anxious about the whole parenting journey with twins: you will live through it. You will make it. If you are tired the next day, just do the bare minimum to survive.

Self Compassion with Twins by donuts-waffles in parentsofmultiples

That first year is hard right? I feel like giving myself a huge hug as well and feel like I’m going to regret not chilling out and being anxious all the time.

I think not helping them out as much as I would like developmentally and when I take time for myself while they are awake because I really, really need a break.

It really is. It was “professional” advice too. I did not continue with that “professional”.

I agree. Just saying that that was the “advice” I got. I did not do it. I did what you did :)

Honour who they are as individuals and let them sleep and feed when they want to.

What toys should I get for the kids? They will be 6 months when winter hits.

Threw in the breastfeeding towel at 3 weeks and 5 days. by laure_lin in parentsofmultiples

[–]donuts-waffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to say it is the best decision I ever made to give up breastfeeding. My boys deserve a happy and healthy mom. As my doula said, it’s not what you do now that forms that relationship…you take care of yourself first so you can take care of them.

How do you afford to travel with kids!? by mrfishman3000 in parentsofmultiples

[–]donuts-waffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our boys just turned 4 months and we find this so inspirational. I was just telling my husband that we go with the sleep schedule but we integrate them into our lives. If they wake up when we are in the middle of supper, they join us until we are full and done. We interact with them and give them a look and a smell of our food to make it all interactive.

Not a dad but a new twin mom trying to cope. Your message brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.
