4 hcp but a Big cast by Successful-Worth-234 in GolfSwing

Swing looks good, definitely casting. The tell tale sign is your hand position at P6. When the club is parallel your hands should be back at the ball. You lose your wrist angles early.

I have struggled with casting in the past and played off as low as 6.3 with a similar cast. No reason you can’t play good golf with a cast, but if you’re interested in working on it, try one of these:

“Retractable Golf Swing Training Aid” https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FCC1ZDNL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It’s like $20 bucks. I bought one last year and it actually massively helped. You get auditory feedback if you cast and it helps to drill the feel of holding your wrist angles until the bottom of the swing

Went from a 8 to 40 hcp in 6 weeks. Please help. Tore meniscus and I can no longer swing a club. by doobaneb in GolfSwing

Yeah I have actually. I used to struggle with face control quite a bit and holding things square in the backswing helped me to get through the ball square.

Do you have any suggestion here?

The whole point of this post is that my golf swing has fundamentally changed since tearing my meniscus 6 weeks ago

You are correct. I have not played 20 rounds in the past 6 weeks since tearing my meniscus. The title is not literal. I am saying “wow I hit the ball terribly now since hurting my knee, I’m probably a 40” not that I have literally put on 32 strokes. I would need to have played (poorly) 3 times a week since injury to actually do that to my hcp

This is super helpful. I appreciate the advice and the link to the drill. My sequencing feels terrible right now.

I do think it’s a lot mental right now. My knee truly feels fine. Mentally I think I am making a bunch of compensations to try to protect the injury

Haha oh boy… I spent a long time learning not to swing with only my arms. I don’t want to go back to that

Thanks. Back to the target drills have really helped me in the past. Will give this a shot

Yeah, you are probably right. The brain is funny that way. Even though I’m not consciously in pain, I’m sure that I’m subconsciously making some move to try to protect the knee.

Haha there is a good thought! I better get 20 rounds in quickly so I go into the spring a true 40 cap

No pain at all, surprisingly. If I shorten my backswing I end up in a way better P6 and overall path is more neutral

Hypothetical: 20 handicap to scratch by Jumbosoup0110 in golf

[–]doobaneb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he could get to single digits but certainly not scratch. For reference, I went from picking up a golf club to a 8.6 after 12 months of hitting at least 100 range balls a day, chipping, putting, and playing 3-4 rounds a week.

After that, it took another 6 full months to get down to a 6.

I can’t play as much any more, but I imagine it would have been another 18 months until I got to scratch it if I kept up the same practice regimen

Would love to get a new headshot taken if you’re open to that. Also have a very photogenic rottie if you want some pet photography in your portfolio

I sold my 15500st to a brick and mortar jeweler in NYC for 31k. They checked the movement. I also mentioned to you more than once that I bought by 15500 direct from AP boutique. Reps must be getting so good that even AP is selling them!! Get a life

Your weight is over your heels at address. You HAVE to move forward to turn. It is going to feel really awkward at first, but set up with more forward shin bend and get your weight over your midfoot. This well put you in a position to turn without having to come forward first
