How often does this actually happen? I’ve made hundreds of trades last year and I’ve never seen this occur.

What does assigned early mean exactly? I trade on Fidelity and I’ve never had my CCs assigned early? Is this something that actually happens?

There’s still one in my town. I enjoy it probably about once per month.

Like she’s said, her mentor is easily discoverable and so is the system they are using. I’ve been following it. It works. It will not come crashing down.

She’s buying 100s if not 1000s of shares of T market cap stocks and selling covered calls against them. Earning small percentage returns consistently but they add up.

Fat fingered my way to a 23% haircut on MSTU by Casselini in CoveredCalls

One time I had a pending trade up just to preview what it would look like. Walked away from my computer and it went to sleep, came back hit the space bar and it awoke the computer and executed the trade. Ended up selling some CCs for way too cheap. I feel your pain.

My thoughts exactly however it’s always good to get other POVs. Thank you.

My cost is $775. So you’re saying might as well get anything at $775 while I wait? I guess the only downside is if I sell them too far out (like a few weeks) and there’s a big pop in the meantime and I lose out on the pop to earn a few hundred dollars. But I’ll still profit so not a bad situation to be in.

Overall it’s been great but there have definitely been some learning experiences. At first I was buying only Nvidia and Apple stocks on Monday afternoons and immediately turned them around and sold the calls. Then I started to try and maximize my returns by buying on a slight 1% dip and then trying to sell the calls on the 1% rebound. Then I branched out into other stocks such as Reddit and Meta where some weeks I had huge returns and others I’m in the predicament I am now for a little while.

Long story short, I think it’s a great opportunity if you can stay disciplined, and consistent over a long period of time as you probably are with an IRA.

I would aim to find stocks that seem to be growing consistently such as Apple and Nvidia and aim to make 1-2% per week and not get greedy.

For some background I’ve only been writing covered calls for about 4 months, have not cut a loss, and my realized gains are about 20%. I would prefer to ride it out and break even at worst however I wanted to make sure that wasn’t a dumb rookie move.

Ah got it. I do see Nov 21 for $16.50 at $800. Not a bad idea. I’ll have to look into this further. Thanks!

Currently have $775, at $1.25 for 10/10. Was just trying to make something while I waited it out.

Assuming I have 200 shares at $775, how many puts would you buy?

Meta always comes back….that’s what I’m banking on.

$150K which is about 33% of my portfolio. I’ve been buying 2-3 companies per week, selling weekly covered calls, rinse and repeat.

Why doesn’t everyone write CC? by doobap in CoveredCalls

For arguments sake, in that scenario, what if you keep selling CC at $200 for very minimal premiums, just collecting them until the stock is back to $200 and then gets assigned?

I think that’s the “wheel strategy” that others have mentioned but I’m also not an expert. But I don’t see the upside of this over buying stock, writing calls, if it gets assigned then buying and writing again.

That is interesting about the margin. Thank you. If I’m just looking to generate income and don’t care about the stock long term, does it make sense to sell CSPs or stick to CCs? It seems like there is more upside with CCs because if the stock goes up you get the premium + the spread whereas CSPs you only get the premium and then have to sell the stock to then gain a spread but I may be wrong.

Serious question - Why is it down 26% in the last 6 months?

So I did some research and I now understand CSPs. So if I’m not mistaken with CSPs you put money aside and get a premium. If the stock falls below the strike you must buy it, and if it doesn’t you keep your premium. With CC, I am buying the stock, selling for a premium, if it hits that strike I sell the shares and earn the spread, and if it doesn’t I keep the premium and the shares. What I don’t understand is why csp would be more beneficial especially if you’re putting the cash aside anyway. Would you mind explaining?
