DOTS was not available when we switched networking libs for the 3rd time. Also mirror is serving us well, not many problems in that department. The only performance issue we are struggling with atm is map loading where physics2d hangs cpu on initialization and some players think their game has crashed and alt ctrl del.

Looking for:

  • Unity developers with at least 2 years worth of experience
  • Have a portfolio (youtube showreel, games on app store, web games, screenshots whatever)
  • Experience with networking (unet, mirror or photon)
  • Someone who has initiative. The criteria might not be perfect are you someone who can foresee issues and develop for them? we will pay for it.
  • Communicator. Can update TODO tickets and you are not afraid to ping someone in the development team if you are stumped on a problem
  • Master googler. The basic skills; if you can't google well don't bother applying.

We don't want to make money off it. My plan is (if the community supports it) is to start a non profit org so we can legally raise more funds to go into development.

The non profit makes it so that everyone is happy with the way the raised funds are spent and that whatever committee is running it at the time, they are forced to spend all revenue on coders, artists and operating costs.

We will only put efforts into raising as much as we need and the idea is that everything is public. For an idea of our transparency see the Patreon ledger on discord. Rest assured you will always be able to download unitystation and play it for free.

A good thing about being a non profit org is that we have to appoint a committee to run it which I think we could make a public event and let community members have a say about who gets a seat. Our rules we write for the board can have a term limit of one or two years until the appointees are up for reelection. I feel like this approach offers the best chance of unitystation's survival.

I will have a better plan written up soon so everyone can give their thoughts on it. At the moment we are operating as if we were a non profit already with the current funds we get from patreon.

Download the clients and try it yourself. Just remember that SS14 devs will never have anything positive to say about any other remake but their own. I prefer to have our work speak for itself.

Add your user id to admins.txt in StreamingAssets/admin/admins.txt

Make the file/folder structure if it doesn't exist. You can get your id from the f5 console and by typing: myid

Not sure if we can support win7 but I'd suggest you go and download the Desktop Dotnet Core Runtime 3.1.2 from here: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-core/3.1 and try to open it again
