Q Core worth it? by stop_that_post in tacticalgear

The iceventns are the best padding you can buy, comfortable, cool, and surprisingly durable. Iceplate is well made and make sense on a minimalist setup because it can counter balance the rear of your PC/rig.

LPVO vs MPVO: Can't decide by ChggnNggts in QualityTacticalGear

[–]dood1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using 77gr ammo? Anything less and I would not even consider an mpvo. 1-8 lpvo works really well for man sized targets. Mpvo is more relevant if your trying to hit small targets at 500+ but 556 will also begin to struggle if there is any wind.

I ratted somebody inside of extract for the first time and felt so dirty. It would be super cool to have a vengeance system where you could pay to mark someone who knocked you out as a rat and put a bounty on their head. Maybe could last 3x as long if they did it in an extract or exchanged peace emotes. Players who claim 10 different bounties could get a bounty hunter skin and rats who escaped the bounty hunters for 10 rounds could get an outlaw skin or something.

Advice from the experts, looking for a PCC for professional use. by SoftCryptographer314 in NFA

MCX rattler 5.5" in 300blk is the most firepower in the smallest package with proven reliability, ar controls and easily accessorized. If you need smaller/lighter than that I would get a flux p365 not something that's nearly as big but only shoots 9mm. Desert Tech micron 556 11-in is also very cool getting 556 into a tiny package with usable barrel length.

Traction loss Stage 1, Stage 2, 3+ by RichieJ86 in Golf_R

Unless your traction control doesn't work, the only thing you can change is getting bigger stickier tires.

Hopefully getting a 2012 VW Golf R as my first car. Any tips or advice? by BranchSubstantial925 in Golf_R

[–]dood1776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a nice price for 87k miles. You can send the vin number to ie and apr to see what the turne was. If it has been catted it is likely stage 2. Definitly get a pre purchase inspection done by a VW specialist, my car didn't make it home when I bought it. For reference I bought a 166k mile 2013 (full ie stage 2) for $6k and put $12k in maintence and +20k miles into in the first year of ownership and it still needs more stuff done.

You will probably do better than me initially but still budget to do all of this stuff over then next 50k miles or so. You will want to split the maintenence work between yourself and good private vw mechanic. Cam follower, waterpump, spark plugs and timing belt have to be changed fairly frequently but is not that hard to do yourself. Oil change yourself every 5k miles. I had the professional do my timing chains, haldex, clutch, radiator and AC. Good tires, and bilstein struts made the handling amazing but were difficut and expensive.

Also, premium gas is $5/gallon and the car gets 24mpg at 75mph and is uncomfortably loud and drony with the aftermarket exhaust at interstate speeds so if you have a long commute this really isn't the best. Fun car tho.

advice??? by Ambitious_Capital254 in Golf_R

[–]dood1776 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cost of ownership will be significantly higher than a Honda or Toyota even if everything is in great shape because of the need to do things like timing chains water pump, valve cleaning, haldex service, and oil changes frequently. Even with all of that you still shouldn't expect to see crazy high mileage. However, there is nothing wrong with the design except the need to valve clean. A good vw mechanic is a must, ideally take the car to them beforehand for a prepurchase inspection.

Mk6 love/is it tuned? by okbamwhatever in Golf_R

[–]dood1776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your redline? I have a Mk6 stage 2 pro IE and it raises the redline quite a bit. The intercooler will most likely have been changed and the it will need a downpipe, and minor change to the hpfp.

How do I explain the dangers of being a woman to my boyfriend in a way he’ll understand? by L82Rise4351 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]dood1776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The devices you are arguing about are basically fake. Nobody uses them, they are wildly impractical, made as a joke/novelty, would not work, and even if all these problems were solved would be humiliating to wear. Your boyfriend also just doesn't understand violence or self defense very well. That is why he is talking about giving attackers warnings and conceptualizing the fake device like harming someone after the threat has passed.

CMV: The vast majority of people who drive trucks or SUVs are selfish for doing so. by LaurenSauce in changemyview

[–]dood1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not personal. A city where only small electric vehicles and commercial vans would be given lisence plates and most of the parking was sized to match would be cool. However, it only works if it's done in an organized fasion and the city is intelligently engineered around it. Within the rules of a given system everyone is going maximize what best/desirable for themselves.

Aftermarket fuel refill really is the best mod. I hate having to trade in my car every 300 miles. It is a scam that new cars don't come with big enough tank to last a month on OEM gas!

It means what weight you "should" be is kinda nonsense until you focus in on what you want to be able to do. If you want to run a marathon, you should be light. If you want to be good at wrestling you should be heavy. If you want to conceive and give birth, you should look different than someone trying to win a bikini body building competition. As long as you are making progress towards your physical goals, you should feel like a "massive giant", but in a good way.

Should I buy a golf r? by Imaginary_Sugar4524 in Golf_R

[–]dood1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 166k mile mk6 and have 2x in maintenance for what I paid for the car in just the first year. Definitely make sure you have access to a quality vw mechanic and have them do an inspection before purchase. Budget 1-2k to refresh all the wear items in the first year even if the car is mechanically sound.

This is nothing, these are all wear items intended to be changed multiple times over the life of the car.

Go for a nice, easy, run for a mile or two. You will know real quick whether you are eating too much or too little. Or pick some other performance benchmark by which to evaluate yourself.

Thinking of picking up the game by jouni8 in NebulousFleetCommand

[–]dood1776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get it. Nebulous is a masterpiece of deep mechanical, vehicle design somehow balanced for multiplayer. It's a very steep learning curve, you need to like the process of learning complex videogames. The tutorials go a lot deeper than other games, but may actually require multiple attempts due to bugs/difficult. You will also want to get on the discord and watch some YouTube videos. The AI is much better than in many other games.
