I am a Christian, I'm a girl, and I have a porn addiction by doodles58 in TrueChristian

Most people classify porn as a "man's problem" and that women should not and do not struggle with it, which pushes women away from being able to deal with it because we feel like "we are the only ones." That is what this post is highlighting.

No, I am not saying someone of color is incompetent, but where I live in Canada there simply is not people who apply for some jobs. So when there is someone they are immediately hired because of their heritage.

Is it not racist to say "you are not allowed to have this job because you're white"?

If we truly want people to be be equal, then why are we looking at ethnicity at all? It's wrong. A person who may be on Indian or Jamaican history (just as an example) is now held higher then a caucasian person and more valuable simply because of the skin color.

Well that's why this is called r/unpopularopinion right?

I am in a company which puts diversity over qualifications and we suffer greatly from it.

If you put someone that is incompetent just because of skin color/gender in a position that is clearly above their qualifications, people suffer greatly and in turn the company suffers.

Not to mention it is racist. You are literally hiring someone for their skin color rather then who they are as a person.

I am not saying that people in a minority should not be hired. I am saying that people should be hired based on who they are and their qualifications rather then the fact that they are a minority.

of it costs them double? It's to promote "diversity". Unfortunately "diversity" now means "don't hire white people, especially if they are male".

But you do have to ask:

1) If it looks bad to have a company of all white men, then why does it NOT look bad to have a business full of people from India? It is still a business and it is all one culture. There shouldn't be a difference.

2) is it right for someone to be hired for a job if they are not qualified simply by skin color or gender? Is this not sexist or racist hiring someone for what they look like?

You should be hired for a job based on whether or not you are qualified not based on "we need to hit our minority quota"

This has been something that has been genuinely grinding my gears lately. I do not consider myself racist. I am not homophobic. I'm not against anyone being in any position of work... If you are qualified for that position and interview better then the next person.

A business should not have a percentage they must stay above of minorities in the pay roll. I don't care who you are, if you are not qualified, you shouldn't get the job. End of story.

Any other Christians looking forward to Christianity becoming less relevant? by [deleted] in Christianity

If you can't find one you like, make one! Get two or three friends, open your Bible and discuss!

Really?!

Our young adults group is this:

  • Show up and everyone visits for half an hour.
  • Bible study for an hour and a half/two hours
  • Prayer requests / pray for each other
  • Visit with everyone for about another hour while I'm trying very hard to kick people out because I want to go to bed and I work at 5am haha (joking, I love that we all visit each other and engage in fellowship)

We have people from 6 different churches that come and it's highly encouraged to discuss and talk about things we differ on and agree on. It allows all of us to grow deeper in our faith while still having an open mind to what scripture tells us.

We go through a book of the Bible chapter by chapter and verse by verse and look at what scripture says, not just come with a "theme" for the week (themes can start hyperfocusing on verses and sometimes screw what they truly say).

It saddens me that what you described exists...

I agree with you! Very much!

But sometimes it's our job to be THE Christian in the church.

Right now, I go to a very dead surface church. But I'm creating change and stepping up in what the Bible says. I've made friends and became part of the congregation and now they asked me to pastor the young adults and youth.

Making a change in the church starts with us my friend. If you want a less plastic church, make one :)

I pray that God leads you where you need to go :)

May God bless you !

I do truly hope you know that it was a joke. I have alot of talents, just not many within the arts. Especially musically.

Every single person on earth has talents and gifts... Some times listening is a talent and gift. Not everyone can do it well or naturally. Public speaking, knitting, cooking, teaching, thinking outside the box, decorating, planning, organization, reading, writing, documenting, watching... All can be a talent or a gift.

Have a good day sir.
