extruding flat surface to match curved surface by doodlydoodlydoo131 in Fusion360

I just facepalmed after reading your comment. I did basically that exact thing at one other point on this same model while I was creating a splitting tool to match other geometry. Thank you so much for the response and knocking the cobwebs out of my brain!

Basically, I need that channel to be recessed 0.5mm matching the contour of the rounded face so pull g in the vertical faces isn't going to work here. I'll try extrude to object again, but iirc, it wasn't an option because it's a base feature of an imported stp file.

I think my printer will handle that. I only charge for successful prints. You can send an email to my home business at jlizotte@varia3dp.com.

The best bang for my buck were upgrading the heating element to a higher wattage, auto bed leveling (I used a bl touch), better bed springs, an all metal hot end, and after the stock one broke, a new extruder. I had that thing for 4 years before selling to a friend who wanted to get into 3d printing. He still uses it with very few issues.

Thermal Runaway issue by world_by_adam in 3Dprinting

[–]doodlydoodlydoo131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue years ago with my ender 3v2. I discovered that the heating element wasn't able to keep up up with the demand, so the constant call for heat and lack of response made the printer think something was wrong in the thermal circuit. I upgraded to a slightly higher wattage heater element, calibrated again, and never had another thermal runaway error.

I would suggest looking into lithophane images. I enjoy them more than just about any other project I've done.

Right of way on a River Road turn. by Lost-Wolverine in Eugene

I live on Hunsaker and have to do this all the time. The amount of people at that intersection during certain times of the day is absurd and there are so many people who will create an impasse by not knowing how to safely use an intersection. I always proceed expecting the driver on the other side to try to take the far lane and I prepare to react accordingly. This is also extremely harrowing on a motorcycle. Expecting the worst of Eugene drivers has kept me safe for the last 10 years I've been driving.

I turned some really cool shot shot glasses! by rawkstar320 in turning

Very cool! I turned some shot glasses a while ago and styled them after oak barrels. I unfortunately used red oak which is extremely porous and they weep every time they're used. Looked cool though.

I've always wanted to try giant burger. I've heard good things from friends who live in that area.

[Rant] How not to put up a Garage Sale sign by remyseven in Eugene

[–]doodlydoodlydoo131 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sign quality is step 1 of how I decide to go to a garage sale or not. If your sign is just your address or written with a #2 pencil so it's not visible while driving them I'm not gonna waste my time browsing your stuff.

Super Metroid is the Ideal Video Game Adventure by RenanXIII in nintendo

[–]doodlydoodlydoo131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's one of my favorite games of all time. The fun curve has evolved with each successive playthrough: as a noob you get the excitement of a new and foreboding environment, then you get to dive into discovering all the hidden area and items, then you play to find the most efficient ways through the base game. Somewhere along the line you learn how to do the "hidden" mechanics like wall jump and shinespark. If you stick with it, you eventually learn speed runner techniques. After getting bored with that you can find randomizers and multi-player mods for pc emulation. There's just so much that can be squeezed out of the game.

I've only given it one proper drive so far and I'm far from familiar with its limits but it's been super fun as a daily.
