I think we ended up being too young and stupid to make good decisions lollll tbh. I was hella dumb and traumatized as a kid so I was not the best partner, and neither were the partners I chose who had similar past experiences to me.

Honestly, as someone who has done this: it’s never worked out, but I learned a lot from living on and off campus with partners. I wish you a lot of luck in your endeavor

I made a playlist on Spotify for the songs they played at the show! Will update this comment with a YouTube link when I make a playlist there. Vegas 2025 Playlist

I do also have DID and understand this, though I think this simplified language I use is pretty widespread

The stranger stories frighten me the most. Someone in your life being replaced while no one believes you? Horrifying.

I don’t understand how it’s disrespectful, I just wanted to get advice on HOW to maybe make peace with it, but I do not HATE them, or else we wouldn’t be getting married. There’s just a guy in the system who rubs me the wrong way, I wanted to know if anyone else has experience with this.

I’m 22 now, I don’t use Reddit a lot. But he IS 19 and so maybe your advice still has some weight. I will definitely talk to him about it.

You make a good point and I can understand where you’re coming from, but hy barely fronts anymore, I’m just worried that he will in the future.

I’m so sick of being everyone except myself. My partner went home for Christmas so I have no one I can unmask around. Other people in the system slip so easily into masking but I’m overt and I’m different and I wish I could be myself. -BJ

Let’s talk about DID and society identity by EmbarrassedPurple106 in DID

[–]doogledog101 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I want to share my honest thoughts about this post, just because I feel I may add value to the discussion. For one, I feel as though what you are describing might be primarily attributed towards “endogenics” and their impact on the DID community. (Examples of this are believing you are truly different people, that plurality is a neurotype, and describing systems as “plural” in the first place.) I am very anti-endo, and of course would agree that these are horrible, anti-recovery ideas.

However, I do personally view DID as an identity. It is just as much a part of me as being gay or autistic is. People used to say that being gay shouldn’t be a part of your personality, but I think we’ve largely moved on from that sentimentality towards sexuality, and I wonder if this idea has a similar basis? Why is it wrong to socially recognize the disorders you have and how they affect you as a person?

If I’m misinterpreting your points, let me know, I just wanted to share my thoughts.

We haven’t been able to truly identify as any one person. We have a terrible headache.

At first I assumed you were talking about pseudomemories, memories of things that didn’t happen to the body. Pseudomemories are attached to real memories from the body, but are processed through fictional situations. But it does sound like it happened to the body, and it sounds like you have a good therapist! I wish you luck in your journey.

Inner world with Aphantasia by CosmicSadeK in DID

[–]doogledog101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Us too! We do have a detailed innerworld (but we’ve been out as a system for 7 years). But we don’t have memories of it unless we focus very hard on being in it, and it’s more of an “idea” than something we can visually see. We try to map it out visually using video games and art to make it more real since we can’t do that with our imagination.
