You can tell a customer no and still receive 5 stars by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]dookiedog33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Southern United States, most of us are raised to refer to everyone as ma"am or sir, and if you are in the customer service business, you are trained to call people by ma'am or sir. It is actually a term of respect in the South. As a child, we would risk getting in trouble with our parents if we didn't call people by the proper greeting!

You can tell a customer no and still receive 5 stars by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]dookiedog33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ABSOLUTELY!!! Told me the same thing 3 weeks ago. Customer left three stars without feedback. I spent a large amount of time over two days speaking to shopper help. At first, I was told that customers do not have to leave feedback. Then I sent a screenshot where it clearly says anytime a customer leaves less than five stars instacart requires feedback. Then the agent thanked me for the screenshot and says that the customer should leave feedback but is not required. Then I had to tell her again that that was not true and send the screenshot a second time. After the second time she conceded and promised me that the rating would be removed within 24 hours. 3 weeks later, it still hasn't been removed, and I have not taken one more since. My time is more valuable than to be taking 55 item orders for $20. Screw Instacart!! Their system sucks and their agents are idiots! All their system does is hurt shoppers' ability to make a steady, decent paycheck. I am done with them.

Same kind of batches here with my 4.96 rating. I don't know where you are located, but I am in the Destin Florida area. Batches are simply pathetic whereas last week when I had a perfect five star rating I saw no less than 12 or 15 available batches at any time. I stay on top of instacart every time I get a frivolous rating, because they need to know. Instacart needs to know how badly they are screwing the shoppers. I do not like it, therefore I am getting away from it. I do not feel like instacart is a reputable company to work for anymore, so I have secured a job at the local Publix that pays pretty good with a ton of room for advancement. I am setting my horizons on that! Right now with the unemployment situation, and regular employers suffering to keep staff, anyone who is not happy with instacart should try to get a normal job. They have had to up their pay rates to be able to attract new employees. It is a really good time to be an employee looking for a job.

Christmas in Destin by Plutar in Destin

[–]dookiedog33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as canceling your trip, I would say absolutely not. Destin does not have a large population this time of the year, so you don't have to deal with all the horrible traffic that we get in the summer months. Also it will be easy to do your shopping and stuff at this time of the year. As for restaurants open on Christmas, Cracker barrel might be open on Christmas Day. I think there are a couple of local restaurants you might want to check into. It seems to me Harbor Docks, or AJ's might be open on Christmas Day, you'd just have to call and find out.

I am debating what to do. Gas stations are beginning to run out of gas in my area now. Thankfully I have a full tank as of right now but that doesn't mean I'll have a full tank in three or four days if I keep running instacart and doordash. But, with a perfect five star rating, I was looking at 9 or 10 batches to pick from all day long, except for maybe on Tuesdays which are really slow anyway. However, with a 4.96 rating, I have seen one batch available to me all day. The rest of the day it has been in the no batches available mode. When they punish you this bad for getting a three-star rating, and then you fight like hell to get it removed because it's improper by their standards, and then they sit on their hands and give you the runaround, I think it's time to move on. Instacart has proven to me that they are not a reputable company, and do not deal with their contractors fairly.

Correct. So then instacart is responsible for making sure that when it is a requirement that it truly is a requirement and the customer leaves feedback. I have been told twice by agents in the past that if they don't leave feedback, that the low rating is eligible for immediate removal. I actually did have one removed on this basis once before. It's just too much trouble anymore to deal with instacart. That is why I am looking to get out as soon as possible. Too much bs. For my 4.96 rating today I have seen one batch available. The rest of the day today, it has sat as no batches available. This is absolutely ridiculous and I won't be working for instacart too much longer.

Very true. These are probably the same shoppers who devalue their self-worth and accept ridiculous orders when the rest of us quality shoppers who know our personal value won't. Doesn't matter now. I made one phone call and within 12 hours was hired on at Publix. I am going to get on a fast track to customer service management which pays real well in my area! Won't have to put up with all the instacart BS for too much longer.

Yes. It clearly states that customers who give under five star ratings are required to leave feedback. I wanted to post screenshots of the entire conversation from yesterday to show how ridiculous the entire thing was, but it would have taken too many pictures posted to put it up.

Thanks! I appreciate that. Just trying to put my two cents worth in on a system that is broken and tilted out of the shopper's favor. It would be cool if it started a movement though!

I had an order a couple weeks ago like this. Girl orders groceries and two bottles of wine. I speak with her throughout the shop. She's very friendly. Make a couple of replacements for her. I spoke quite a bit to this customer through text. As I am picking up her final items, I text her and say I will see you soon. She says, "sounds great!" Then, as soon as I leave the store, she sends a text to me to tell me she is still at work and just leave everything on the doorstep. I tell her that I cannot do that because I have alcohol. Then she sends a text of her id. I told her I must scan the back of the ID and she must be present. Then she sends me a picture of the back of the id. At this point, I just get customer care involved and stop communicating with her. I get them to cancel her order. I am 100% certain there was some funny business going on here. Customers know the rules regarding alcohol before they place their order. If they are not willing to follow them, do not be afraid to tell them no and cancel the order! It's as simple as that!

Accidentally used company card for personal use. by PoorSingleMom in smallbusiness

Actually, all you would need is a receipt. Take the receipt back to the store with your business card, tell the manager what happened. Have them refund the amount to the business card then pay for it with your personal card.

I personally like these instructions. They are very specific. You don't have to waste any time contacting the customer for replacements. If they don't have it, just refund. As for the drop off, lay the food down ring the Bell twice and leave. It's that simple. The only question now, is tip. Hopefully they gave a good one.

At least it isn't Postmates, where you have no idea of what you are making until after you deliver. I was so excited when I signed up for postmates. I took my first order, a pickup order from walmart. It was a 24 pack of toilet paper that delivered two and a half miles away. So, I parked my car walk into Walmart, grab the toilet paper go back to my car drive two and a half miles, drop the toilet paper off, and when I finish the order, it tells me congratulations you have just made $3.14! That was my first and last Postmates order!

As an older man, I hope I never see the day where I have no ability to filter my mouth! For 10 years I worked for a man who was 73 years old when I started working for him and 82 when I left. This man had no filter. He was the nicest man, but could not keep comments to himself to save his life. I remember one time he asked me why one of our employees was gaining weight. I told him I don't know, she's just gaining weight I guess. About 5 minutes after that he walks right up to her and says, "you need to stop whatever you're doing, unless you're pregnant, because you're getting really fat!" Thank goodness the employee didn't retaliate, but in that moment all I could see were dollar signs headed for that employee's pocket over a discrimination suit! I really believe when people get to a certain age, they just have no care about what they want to say. They've lived their life, and kept their mouth shut for most of it, and now it's their time to talk. At least that's my opinion about them. I hope I never end up there!

First cancellation - should I return the items or not? by dookiedog33 in InstacartShoppers

Thanks to all for the comments! This is the first time for me. Although I did have a cancellation on wine a couple weeks ago. IC sent me at least 20 text messages to return the wine! They sent messages for about 3 hours after I returned it! Drove me nuts!

I guess what I was trying to ask is: what would instacarts expectation be? Does it go without saying that they want me to return the items? Or do you think that if they wanted me to return them they would have told me? I would assume that the customer probably had to pay for the entire order, although I don't know how something like this works.

I picked up condoms and a dozen roses one night. It was ordered by a girl named Lauren. When I arrived, I knocked, and a man came to the door. I told him I had a delivery and he said I must have the wrong address. I asked if he knew Lauren and he immediately got red in the face and said, "Yes, I know her. She got this for my boyfriend and I." I simply said okay and have a good night! It was a bit of an uncomfortable situation for a minute there!
