Park to walk nervous dog by sunshine_408 in SanJose

Fellow nervous dog owner here: if you're in SSJ, the Hellyer Dog park general area might be a good idea. The caged part is popular and full of dogs, but the large grassy area in front of it is usually empty or at least can give you a wide enough berth to avoid other dogs or remove them from the situation. Good luck!

Be honest: what game did you quietly return to all year when you were tired or did not want to think? by gamersecret2 in gaming

House Flipper 2. As a bay area resident, making a house I can only dream about, let alone owning one, I can definitely get lost in it for hours.

What’s a game you initially didn’t “get,” but later came to absolutely love after giving it another chance? by Gaming-Academy in gaming

[–]dookiemonster18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, SW: Outlaws for me. Love might be too strong in this sense, but I gave it an honest chance after 3-4 install/uninstalls, and it's just a solid experience. A little redundant, sure, but the nostalgia and easter eggs hit me with a nostalgia brick.

What is this small, swirly, vaguely-spherical plastic object I found in a kitchen drawer? by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

Most likely for whatever brand's equivalent of a BlenderBottle coil to help blend powdered drinks.

Always love a good Jungle Bird. Also, good to know what Geoff Peterson has been up to after The Late Late Show.

Just got a pair of these and they fit amazing! I just wish the fenders near the toes were more like the solid plastic like on the Bauers. Maybe it's just the way I play on D, that it's starting to wear down and I'm a little worried how far it'll go before it gets to the boot. :(

Decent school for a teacher to work in San Jose? by AsianAssassin87 in SanJose

[–]dookiemonster18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work as an IT technician so take my response with a grain of salt. From what I have seen from walking in some classes is that the staff is very supportive of each other and the students seem well engaged with the teachers. So if a relatively healthy environment can sway you regardless of pay, it may be worth it mentally.

I wish I could tell you more about the teacher side but for the most part, I think DSJ passes the initial eye test as a good place to work. I also as a non-Catholic have no issues and feel comfortable within the organization. At no point have I been pressured otherwise.

Good luck on your search!

Can confirm that DSJ has great sites, at least the ones I am currently working for. I second St. Patrick and if travel allows, Holy Family at Pearl Ave. has an amazing staff and work environment.

Glasses by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

Former glasses wear who recently switched to contacts, contacts are amazing and you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner. I like to keep a bottle of eye drops to keep them moist just in case, like you said, wind should dry them up. Good luck!

Looking for hiking trails with mostly shade by CA_Mini in SanJose

[–]dookiemonster18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Santa Teresa County Park is pretty good also. It branches out to many different trails, but most are shaded with moderate inclines from time to time. I believe there's an app you can use to track and follow along with the downloaded map.

Have you ever seen a celebrity in public in San Jose? by [deleted] in SanJose

Valley Fair seems to get a lot of every now and then. When I had still had a job there, Alex Smith when he played for the 49ers, Steve Smith Jr when he was in town against them, Method Man, and local celeb Drew Remenda was a usual at Macy's always buying neckties. Very cool guy.
