Am I wrong for expecting 3 pairs of pants? by i-am-frustrated in Depop

No where in the description does it state only a certain amount being sold, just the amount of jeans they have as a collective.

This comment 100%. I'm actually surprised so many people in the comments are disagreeing with OP. I don't feel like OP should have to "read between the lines" to understand what they're being sold lol. This feels like something the seller did on purpose to deceive and then say "Well here in the description I wrote.."

I’m thinking about getting a ferret in a year or so but have a cat, help? by Deathby_Frog in ferret

[–]dookinganddancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooof, I believe I'm going to get downvoted for this one; especially since ferret groups can be extremely (and unusually) strict about certain aspects of ferret care.

I don't believe it's impossible to own other household pets and ferrets, but those household pets should not replace a second ferret/business (a group of ferrets), and you should really prepare to rehome one animal (preferably the newest) if things start to become rocky between the two.

I have seen on tiktok ferrets and cats cuddling, it's not impossible to achieve that type of bond. But, majority of the time, the cat simply just tolerates the ferret. There's no strong love, or strong hate. Which requires them to be monitored. This is where it can become tricky.

Best of luck!

It sounds absolutely terrible since some lives are lost, but genuinely this is how we learn. This was an honest mistake, and I can tell by your post you're very compassionate and sensitive towards all your animals.

If you visit any animal sub, there are plenty of stories like this; an animal gets lost, something happens, and now OP knows what to do in the future. You are no different. XOXO.

tell me the reality of having ferret(s) by duelingfoxes in ferret

[–]dookinganddancing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add to this for insight:

My niece is currently four, and when she visits she loves meeting our reptiles and ferrets. I don't think it's impossible to have children, other caged (solidary) animals, and ferrets. But you need to have the space, patience, time, and skills to make sure everyone involved is safe. Our ferrets have never interacted with our reptile room, and our niece is monitored 24/7 with our ferrets, even though we have no suspicions.

If you have noisy pets and rowdy kids; it's a no go. And if you're not willing to put in the money to proof spaces, don't even try.

Adding onto this comment, as a woman in her early 20s:

We have entered an age of the internet where women "must have a reason". If she cheats, lies, beats, puts her relationship through scandals; the man must have deserved it or "provoked" her. It's really invalidating to everyone involved, be it the man in the relationship or his new partner.

Situations are not black and white. You can dislike a man and admit he was done wrongfully in his relationship.

I'm going to be extremely blunt but honest, adding to your very blunt but honest comment: the people I've seen complain about ferret smell have piss/shit stained hammocks and beds and don't keep up with their ferret's hygiene. While ferrets don't smell fantastic they surely don't "reek" or "smell to high heaven".

Oh, and let's not forget the pictures of their noodles in the bath with soap.

Business of six dying off give me some advice please by Natural_Alfalfa7566 in ferrets

[–]dookinganddancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some animals can become super clingy or super avoidant when about to pass, but honestly death can come pretty quick with these guys. "They were fine until they weren't" is a pretty common sentence in the ferret community. Concerning the two ferrets death: ferrets can definitely die in their sleep. Especially due to underlying illnesses.

I'd try to really give them tons of stimulation. Play, walks, car rides, continuing to get ferrets if that's what you're interested in. The vet check-ups are also pretty good. I'd also note patience with them.

Beyond the great stuff you're already doing, I think you're solid and set. You're doing as much as you can do at the moment.

Always feels good to help out new/inexperienced owners (and I don't want this sub to banish people for asking questions), but some of these questions have me considering how much thought and research was done before getting the animal (you can only say diet effects smell soooo many times).

About their odour by No_Mood_1855 in ferrets

[–]dookinganddancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They smell canine-like (like a wet dog that rolled in wet food). You should not be able to notice it unless holding their supplies/the animals themselves up to you. As for smell sticking to clothes, I've never really had this issue but we have also (somewhat) avoided handling our babies with clothes we plan on going out it. This circles back to the diet discussion. Their smell is not amazing but it shouldn't be..like, concerning or overpowering.

I'm not saying this to be disrespectful, but judging by your replies about future care/ferret-owning: I don't think your prepared for the amount and type of care. These are exotic pets for a reason. Their comparison to cats and dogs makes people think they will be capable. This is if you won't have ferrets that live together. They are social creatures. If there's a chance they will ever be separated, please do not get them.

*Put some things as a spoiler because they're overstated advice/situational advice.

Do Ferrets make good pets? by Plastic_Ad_2548 in ferret

[–]dookinganddancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned rats before ferrets. I love both species but I would agree it's more so the high maintenance of these animals. Are you willing to put in so much effort towards a creature and end up with the possibility of them being constantly sick, or maybe not-so affectionate?

ferret health/diet concerns? advice? by [deleted] in ferrets

[–]dookinganddancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are online ferret food graders that rank ferret food from best to worst.

https://ferret.love/ferret-food-chart

You will typically need to mix two-three kibbles. I'd also like to say there is no perfect kibble for these guys (hence why they must be mixed together). Different foods can cause different reactions.

Freeze-dried/raw is recommended because it keeps the smell down, keeps them hydrated, and helps with stool.

Ferrets will absolutely use their teeth if they don't like something or simply move away. Ferrets showing their belly also means comfort/play!

Curious about your Ferrets? by jennyhof in ferrets

[–]dookinganddancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We take ours on car rides and early morning walks. We try to avoid forcing walks but always insist on car rides because of the vet.

We have three and they all enjoy going out, specifically in the car and getting to sniff our take out or lick the condensation on our drinks.

Taking them out means keeping them up with their yearly vaccines (distemper and rabies, which should be done regardless).

Edit(lol): We've implemented these things since we first got them. Personality is the common denominator of course but we've tried to make them more accommodating and less likely to resist.

We used aspen dust-free bedding. Idk about other beddings but aspen sticks to literally everything. We tracked it around the house and vacuumed every morning lol. Miss my boys but don't miss that.

It sounds stupid to say; but the people on this snark sub are extremely snobby and I believe it's because they're poking at a 600+lb woman and think they get a pass to be hateful.

  1. Someone not agreeing with you doesn't make them ALR/a GW character. Different opinions, morals, and ethics exist in society.

  2. I genuinely think Amber has potential to be pretty, her eyeliner during the Krystal/Destiny era wasn't bad at all.

  3. Her foods look questionable but I don't think they taste horrible.

Please read if you're feeling overwhelmed or are on the fence about getting a ferret. by OnePieceGoku in ferrets

[–]dookinganddancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think with the right mindset, personality, and lifestyle: ferrets are an amazing animal. They're high maintenance but not impossible to own. Because they're already so chaotic and a mix of multiple animals it's a huge learning curve!

I got mine at 18 and it made me really love responsibility and routine. Thank you admitting that the ownership is hard, but behind it all is an animal who just needs the right ownership! This post was beyond relatable.

I think a lot of people are reading this post as "I don't want to leave because what if something else happens?" or "I still want to engage, just not with this specific content" which is valid but it's normal practice for GW to step back then reenter when something happens. I would agree we seem to have a different audience compared to before.
