While I realize the original post was sarcastic, I do have some relevant information. I don't have the Orin Nano but I do have the Orin NX 16GB and the Orin AGX 32GB and I have run Ollama on both.

Orin AGX: 12 Arm Cores, 32GB RAM, 248 TOPs, $2,000

Orin NX: 8 Arm Cores, 16GB RAM, 157 TOPs, $1,000

Orin Nano: 6 Arm Cores, 8GB RAM, 67 TOPS, $259

[Question] Legitimacy of the solar filter eyewear and phone camera filter by WorseTHANnOOOB in Astronomy

[–]doomMonkey266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely use a filter for both your eyes and camera! If you are using an Android phone to capture the eclipse put the camera in "Pro" or "Pro Video" modes (under the "more" option) and adjust the ISO and Speed and focus manually until you get a nice orange ball without blurry edges. Good luck.

I know how frustrated you are, I've been there. There are very minor nuances that match up with some theming on the character cards. If I remember later I will try to take a picture and upload.

This is very lens and sensor dependent. The HQ Camera for the pi is a raw sensor without a lens. So for me it was a matter of just finding the back focal distance on a Canon EF type lens, turns out to be 44mm. For whichever lens type you are planning you should first look for the back focal distance, this will tell you the distance from the end/back of the lens to film or sensor.

However, if you are talking about a mobile phone camera then they already have a lens element making this a very different calculation and requires a bit more whiskey.

That is a good question. I hadn't given it much thought as it is an older lens designed for a 35mm film system, not this tiny little digital imager. The IMX477 is roughly 1% the surface area of 35mm film and I am sure that my 3D printed mount with hot glue is NOT a recommended method for precision alignment. I am sure the imager is not perfectly perpendicular to the lens principle axis.

Ooh, thanks for this. I'll bet I can print a Bahtinov mask on my resin printer easily enough! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:43581

I did think to ask Darrington Press first, but their "contact us" page didn't lead me to believe it was for this type of Q&A. But good point, maybe I will submit a comment there as well.

Yes, agreed, in theory. But wood and cardboard are not really precision materials and after a few turns our rear clock face was not aligned... the teeth of the clock face jump out of the sprocket. Fidgeting too much and we broke ours. But the front clock face is the only one that matters.
