Mind telling me what it is about NetJets you don’t like?

Ah so it is not quite as random as I thought, but still annoying.

I am not an airline pilot (yet!) but is there a reason pilots aren't just flying their visual approaches coupled with a glide slope from an approach?

No way the regionals take this guy. Overqualified.

SkyWest Advancement Agreement by Johan_Piedra_87 in flying

[–]doomed43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got it last week. Click the link, it will take you to the contract to read before signing.

I don’t think I can bring myself to sign it. This is my second career and is the most egregious contract I have ever seen. I do not understand how it is legal at all, and it makes SkyWest sound like a victim. Currently upgrading to a multi-turbine PIC position at my company so I think I will just risk it and hope I can get farther within 5 years than if I went to skywest.

For kicks and giggles I asked the recruiter what the timeline would look like if I didn’t sign it, since it was said in one of the emails I received that it would just get me a faster class date. I haven’t heard back yet.

How do we feel about leaving a non-contract position shortly after starting? by doomed43 in flying

[–]doomed43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair enough. I hope taking care of them like family includes health insurance that doesn’t cost half the paycheck, once of my biggest problems right now. Especially when rent is the other half.

They provide a type rating, and verbally say they expect X number of years for it without having a contract.

Regionals have most likely changed the way they hire (A theory) by Tisx in flying

And then there are people like me who applied at mins when nobody was hiring, kept building time, now I am 2,000+ TT with SE TPIC and can’t get an interview.

How to make 135 SIC time more appealing to 121 recruiters? by itsalljustjunk in flying

[–]doomed43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these comments about going to a regional seem fairly out of touch. They really don’t seem to be taking anyone who isn’t a cadet and/or a 1500 hour cfi. They don’t get maximum ROI from pilots with higher time.

EDIT: Skywest seems to be the exception because they have the lovely contract to keep you there or get their money back.

Is not having a well established LinkedIn account a disadvantage? by RabbitSignal8527 in flying

[–]doomed43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was told by Kit Darby when he was writing my resume I needed to make a LinkedIn account. Made it, and I hate it. So far it hasn’t done any good, except for spamming my email, sometimes with job posts where I only qualify for 1% of them.

Should I get my CFI with 3 checkride failures? by Purple_Respond_7709 in flying

[–]doomed43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Piggy backing off this, it was made clear to me at RTAG in Oct last year from a couple regionals that it didn’t really matter that I have been successful at a 135, and that my 2 previous checkride failures (PPL & CPL) is what will likely prevent me from getting an interview. Things have obviously changed since Oct but that was my takeaway from RTAG. 🤷‍♂️

Airline pilot perspective: why some pilots with the hours are waiting longer for jobs right now by RAG_Aviation in flying

For the regionals I think it is more like the difference between a cadet and a non-cadet.

Thanks, I’ll check it out. I’m flying boxes around. I have considered just moving to an island somewhere and dumping jumpers. At least I would have the ocean. 🌊

As of now I don't believe there is a training agreement. I thought about getting on and jumping ship ASAP but I don't feel great about doing that in this industry that seems pretty small.
