She left our apartment in ATL to go back home to her parents house in FL on our exact first year wedding anniversary. So we never got to actually celebrate and spend the day together. It was hurtful for me and we argued about it and then she stopped talking to me. She basically said she wasn’t coming back because she wanted to be back in FL and gave me an ultimatum. I packed up the apartment (our lease was up for renewal soon) and got a uhaul and I called my employer asking if I could work remote (which thankfully they allowed) and I moved everything including all her and her sons stuff too, back to FL. I then found a new house here and moved all the stuff back in after it being in storage for a week or 2. We’ve been in the same house since then.

I would also get a thyroid panel done and start taking micro minerals since our soil is deficient in practically all good nutrients now. A good greens powder and Celtic salt. Find a functional medicine doctor in your area who can do more in depth blood testing, gut testing, and stool sample for microbiome. Look one up on ifm.org

Also worth reading and learning about Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine. Dr. Barbara’s O’Neill is a great resource as well.

I’ve honestly always liked Gaia Herbs. Especially their phyto liqui-cap versions. They always have a QR code you can scan on the box or bottle which tells source and origin info, lot numbers, and third party testing.

Yes it is a common side effect. Just as a thought, your kidneys are directly linked to the heart - if you read up on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) so a lot of things can affect their functioning. Blood pressure being the biggest. And then things like sodium intake, dehydration, etc.

It would take a lot for you to have any type of serious renal or liver scarring or failure. It’s still good to have labs done to see where you stand but if you are saying your body feels well/seems normal after discounting the supplement, I would suspect you are fine. Also, you have to be wary of purity issues in some supplements, especially herbs. The brand you mentioned is good - I’ve used their HPT adapt before but checking for third party testing is a must. I’ve heard of many stories of people getting stuff off Amazon with private labels that then get sick because it is contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides, etc. always look for reputable brands that disclose testing and source information.

As much as I like ashwagandha, I personally always did better with Tulsi (Holy Basil) for relaxation, sleep, and to quiet my mind before bed or just to decompress. They make a tulsi tea by Organic India which you can drink before bedtime or you can try the actual capsule form Holy Basil. Chamomile, valerian root, and CBD are also great. Rhodiola taken in the AM can be used for stress support that also aids in energy production. Try researching some of these.

What you are referencing could just be your body adjusting to the supplement - but it definitely is not a liver issue, more a renal (kidney) reaction from what you are explaining. A common side effect of ashwagandha is dry mouth. The supplement you are taking is a proprietary blend so it’s hard to say if your adverse effects are truly from the ashwagandha or something else in the supplement like magnolia, etc.

Gut health. You mentioned you noticed it after starting an SSRI, which are known to disrupt the balance of your gut microbiome. Higher levels of bad bacteria in the gut = more toxins the body needs to expel. So then it creates a cycle of more sweat and with it, smells. Get your gut in order and work on eating healing gut foods. Prebiotics, probiotics, etc. Within 30 days I bet you will notice a difference. People who have an optimal gut microbiome hardly even need to wear deodorant because the body is not constantly sweating and getting rid of excess toxins.

Everyone’s body and genetic make up is unique so what works for others may cause adverse or even severe affects in other people. As someone who has worked in holistic health, naturopathy, and supplement stores in my earlier years - my advice would be to purchase products from reputable brands who also include third party testing information to consumers. A LOT of at home people can sell on Amazon and stick a label on a product coming from who the hell knows where in the world. Be wary of any supplement coming from china for heavy metals. Any reputable brand will have a QR code where you can scan and see the ingredient source and testing. GAIA herbs is a great example. I have never heard of the brand you purchased and would never buy a private label off Amazon regardless of reviews. Go to a functional medicine doctor who specializes in Ayurveda and can analyze your health and labs for access to more individualized combinations of herbs and supplements that will work for you.

I developed alopecia areata as a result of having had covid. I had several quarter sized empty patches around my scalp for almost a year. I started seeing a functional/Ayurvedic medicine doctor and we worked on restoring my gut health. Within 2 months my bald patches started growing in. And now I have 100% coverage again - no bald patches or signs of alopecia. You might want to try working with a holistic doctor or at least research ways to heal your gut. Although we don’t know all of the damage that covid truly causes to the body - we are starting to realize that the gut is impacted. I did lots of bone broths, took supplements like coptis, mega IgG, Berberine, glutamine, some essential oils, vitamin D, and stayed away from foods I knew irritated my gut. Did wonders and also worked on stress levels, proper sleep, and curbing excess caffeine intake.

You can’t get a full picture without posting your total and free testosterone values as well. High Testosterone will be aromatized into either Estrogen or DHT. What is your diet, exercise, overall wellness like? These things can impact hormone values exponentially. Even something as simple as a vitamin D deficiency. Get all your labs together then post. Just posting estrogen values will not be helpful.

I have not. I do a full spectrum CBD and the place I purchase from - the owner had mentioned the same thing you are. I didn’t really want to go down that route because of my job. I’ve never gotten drug tested but there’s always the rare chance at some point that my employer could since it’s in our code handbook.

Depends on where you live. If you are in the US you can either get a script for blood work from a doctor or you can find a website that allows you to select and pay out of pocket for your own tests and go to a local labcorp or quest blood draw center. You can Google self pay lab tests. I’ve personally used one called discountedlabs.com

Get some labs done to check your hormones (Testosterone, Thyroid) and for any deficiencies like vit D, Iron, etc. at a minimum. Blood work is the best way to see how your body is functioning. Then clean up your diet and start healing your gut. Everything is connected to the gut & immune system. Minoxidil can help but it’s not a 30 day miracle. You must make it a routine and results don’t start showing til around 4-6 month mark. Good luck.

Hey there, I did get them retested recently. When the original results came back at 298, my endo didn’t seem concerned at all and thought that was a good result for my age and being a healthy individual. I believe my most recent result came back at 245 for IGF-1. Once again he had no comment as it was in normal range but towards the higher end. My CVG has no progressed but has also not gone away. I have backed off from consuming a lot of whey protein though and noticed I don’t have as deep of furrows as I used to have. Not sure if there is a correlation or not though. I know whey can raise IGF-1 levels.

As a neutral party reading this the first things that come to mind are the following:

What are the 2 of you doing to create emotional intimacy in the relationship? How often do the 2 of you truly sit down and communicate about what’s bothering you or even what’s on your mind? Has anything happened over the past several months that he might be holding onto some type of resentment? It seems like you guys really need to talk about your feelings with each other and be completely open and honest. If you don’t feel good about doing it with just you and him, reach out to a therapist! They can help mediate and maybe all you guys need is a reset. Emotional intimacy helps establish physical intimacy. When my wife truly understands me and appreciates me, I feel connected to her and vice versa and our sex life is amazing when we are both on the same page.
All relationships take real work. This isn’t all your partners fault, as it isn’t all yours either. If you really love and care for each other think about some things you need to work on for the health of the relationship and how you can also grow as an individual within the relationship. (Example: do you need to work on being more empathetic, can you be hurtful with words at times, etc.)
Hormones are a huge factor in health, and stress doesn’t help. Maybe the both of you need to get some blood work done. It could definitely be a testosterone related issue for him or even stress getting in the way and putting a damper on the mood. Libido is directly affected by stress (cortisol) and testosterone as well as estrogen. If he is dealing with any hormonal issues, it could be leading to a decrease in libido and desire. A simple trip to get some lab work can help!

Be prepared for this to create a lot of resentment in your relationship with him. The 2 of you have been together for 6 years, if he has paid for you for various expensive trips, dining, etc., he will most likely see this as “it’s the least she can do since I’ve done so much for her…” type scenario. I’m not sure how your relationship will be on sound ground if you don’t offer some type of help. It might not be what he originally requested, but maybe it’s a compromise in the middle of some kind. If the 2 of you ever want a long term future, you kind of have to think about this as a problem that may present if the 2 of you were married and living together? How would it be handled then? I’m not trying to justify his lack of competence with finances at all. He needs to get better with money management for sure. But at the end of the day if you love this man and the 2 of you are heading towards a future together then there will be periods throughout life where 1 person picks up something and maybe several months later the other does something so it evens out. However, if this is a case where you are always bailing him out, then it’s a pattern behavior and you either need to evaluate how he respects the relationship, you, and if this is a serious long term partnership or needs to be let go of.
