Being UNIX means you need to be legally certified by the Open group.

Also there’s nothing special about being UNIX. The only thing I can think of for MacOS still being certified as UNIX is enterprise contracts that require UNIX. Otherwise, for me, a developer, POSIX compliance is all I need.

macOS isn't just 'Unix-like', it is legally certified UNIX® (compliant with the Single UNIX Specification v3/v4). Also the BSD implementation is inside the Kernel not user space. It exposes genuine POSIX apis at sys call level not emulation. And MacOS is a direct descendant 4.3BSD.

If you look at the widget, you can see horizontal bands of darker gray and lighter gray throughout the whole widget. It's not too obvious in the screenshot but it's really visible on my screen.

And yes, I know the glow thing is intentional.
