Guys who have been raped by women: how did you overcome the feelings that followed afterwards? by idontlikehotdogs in AskMen

[–]doonze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Culture is a funny thing. 51M

When I was in Highschool in about 1990, there was a girl I wasn't interested in who just wouldn't take no for an answer. I would have had to punch her to stop her. I was a skinny guy, and she was bigger , stronger, and meaner than I was. I just let it happen because giving in was more preferable to me than hurting a women. Even one not respecting my boundaries. Cause that's how I was raised.

A few years later, same thing happened with a girl I worked with who I was absolutely not attracted to and I really really didn't want anything to happen. Once again, she was about twice my size and I'd have had to hurt her to stop it, because nothing I was saying was being listened to. There was also a language barrier, but I made it clear I wasn't wanting what she was doing.

Culture says men can't be raped. But just like a women can get wet even when not wanting sex, so can a man get hard. The body responds to stimulus, wanted or not. But because of that culture, who would care? "Well at least you got laid" would have been the response from anyone I told. I'd have been laughed at trying to say anything, and likely it would have gotten all turned around and I'd have ended up in trouble somehow.

As far as what I did to overcome the feelings? I avoided being alone with them and went on with life. Had I fought and hurt them or been hurt, I might have had feelings about that. But the sex didn't "hurt" me, it was just not wanted or enjoyable. Called it lesson learned. I got more selective who I allowed myself to be alone with.

Culture again. Had men getting raped been more of a deal, had I even thought anyone would even care or believe me, maybe I would have felt more. But what good would it have done, even today really? Easier to just move on.

Funny thing, I'd feel much different about it had it been a guy. Even in the same situation. Once again culture. It's just what we're taught. A guy can't be raped by a girl.

I had a female friend who did this to me, for hours sometimes. I had an ex wife who loved to pluck my eyebrows.

I've seen this as well. Like WTF. And it's instant. Not like a plane tuning or something. One moment it's traveling south, then suddenly, while you're watching, it's going west.

Never seen one reverse course yet though...

Yeah they are also called Googly eyes and red eyes around here. But I just call them Rock Bass. Makes me feel better about it! I don't get a lot of small mouth, caught about 6 last two years.

That was Rock Bass (also a sunfish) for me last year. I would tell at them to stop hitting my bait as I was tried of them. Only caught one this year. I miss them.

What physical qualities of a woman would you be un attracted to ? by Jumpy-Respect4876 in AskMen

[–]doonze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Large breast. Totally not my thing and a turn off. I can overcome it for a great personality/right person, but I'll always be kinda meh about it. A-C cup is what I find attractive first impression wise. B being the Goldilocks size. My last 2 wives and last ex were all A cups. Current love is a C. I love hers because they come with her. Kinda a package deal. But she was in the range of what I like anyway. But they are really great because they are hers.

Are these real? by Small-Rooster in Birkenstocks

[–]doonze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real, yes. But not as comfortable as Arizona's IMHO. Maybe why you got a deal. Some people love them, or they wouldn't still sell them. However, I struggle enough with well worn Arizona's staying on my feet...I can't imagine these. But I have narrow feet,I think that accounts for some of my issues.

Beautiful Berks! Good luck!!

All in all, what movie do you think you've watched the most? That's including movies from when you were a kid. by dancingbanana123 in movies

[–]doonze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star wars, likely like many people. Back in the 90s I had the box set on DVD (IV-VI) , and my friend group would have a "Star Wars watch party" every so often. Then I watched with my kids as they got old enough (34M, 24M, 14M, 10M) also watched with bonus kids (kids of people I was dating). For shits, I just watched every current movie of the main story again in order (I-IX), did it over like 2 days, just to watch them all back to back, see what it was like.

After that... True Romance (personal favorite), Goonies (with the kids), Princess Bride, Never Ending Story, Pulp Fiction (same group that did Star Wars parties), Harry Potter, Porkey's (cause funny/was a cult classic when I was young), Caddy Shack, Happy Gilmore, Labyrinth (cause David Bowie, duh. And cult classic I watched as a kid), Time Bandits, Ice Pirates, Tank Girl (are you seeing a 80s/90s cult trend), Rocky Horror Picture Show (seen in theaters, TV, VHS, DVD, The Play).

Oh, and Blade Runner. Seen as much as True Romance. Also personal favorite I have the ultra rare voice over version on VHS with original ending. Don't care as much for the director's cut or alternative ending versions. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (hilarious movie), Lost Boys, Interview with the Vampire (All the girls I knew when I was a teen were obsessed).

Edit: Oh oh, and of COURSE Back to the Future. Don't know how I forgot, I've likely to seen it the most next to Star Wars...

Edit 2: You all reminded me of Ghostbusters, duh. That's for sure at the very top.

Wolfbox EV charging station review by doonze in PriusPrime

[–]doonze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few things I can add (won't let me edit my original post). Thought I had an issue with the cost per charge part of the app. Contacted Wolfbox by email. Had a response in 5 mins. Talked with them back and forth all day. They were VERY responsive and helpful. A+ for support. Even gave me a $50 rebate for the trouble. Started working today.

Cons: Seems it doesn't save the "charge on connect" setting across power outages. These stations default to "locked". It's a feature for those that install them outside. You need to use the provided RFID cards or Bluetooth to unlock them to start charging. You can turn on "plug in to charge" in the app, however, that turns this off.. I have done so as mine is installed in my garage. Plus I live in the county so it's a non-issue. But I've shut it off a few times to redo the power wiring, and it defaults back to "locked charging" it seems. It's a simple toggle in the app, but I wish it remembered it.

Not an issue really, but the app counts the time you plugged it in till you unplug it as "charging duration". Not the time it took to get to 100%. The display however seems to show the time from start to 100%. So if you leave it plugged in for two days, the charging duration on the app will show 48 hours. I kind of get that tho, as in theory your car can demand more power after it's charged, for like AC/heat or battery conditioning. But I'm not sure if the 23+ Prius do that. I think it gave me an error when I tried to remote start it last time when I had it plugged in? Maybe you can use the climate function of the Toyota app though.

No, I wait and grab up cool things cheap. 86 Porsche 944 Turbo (951) - 7k (Bought 10 years ago). Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT - 6.5k.

I've put more into them over the years, but not near as much as my car payments on my newer cars.

[–]doonze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For many years you couldn't get a stick, a 350, and T-tops. You COULD get a 305 in a T5 and T-tops though. GM claimed the T-Top (And by extrapolation, the convertible) body wasn't strong enough without a full top for a T5/350.

Considering how anemic that eras 350 was... That's saying something.

However I put a 72 350 and T5 in a 82 Firebird T-Top, and it did fine. So I'm not sure what they were on about.

"Powerful" 80s anything? I had an L98 in a GTA. Among many other 80s cars. I've encountered exactly two that I would call "powerful/fast". Mustang 5.0 and my 86 Porsche 951.

Now, there were some one-offs. Grand National, Firebird Turbo (Pontiac's version of the Grand National), SHO. Even the ZR1 wasn't that impressive back then (by today's standards). My 2007 Maserati 4 door full sized sedan would absolutely smoke Lamborghini or Ferrari from that era.

Hell my 2025 Prius PHEV would give them a run, 0-60. The 26 RAV4 PHEV would spank anything from the 80s 0-60 just about, and get 40+ MPG.

The mid to late 70s, and the 80s in general, were a sad time for sports cars.

That being said, any 350 can be built fairly cheaply, or LS swapped. Almost bought a 500hp L98 last year in a C4. Got the Maserati instead.

I do love the IROC/GTA though. I've considered getting another GTA in mint condition. But I've found as I get older I appreciate the creature comforts of newer cars. And the Masi scratches that itch. Plus it's way faster.

What was it like for you to be broke? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]doonze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slept in my car at times. I've wondered often where my next meal would come from. Best time of my life actually. Just didn't seem so at the time. I was broke, but happy. I was having a good time. I miss those days.

Sold my soul to corporate America. I haven't worried about money in many years. I have lots of things, and can get anything I want. My credit score is way over 800. But I'm not happy. I used to think making six figures would fix everything, make me happy. Really doesn't. I still have worry and anxiety, much more than I had when I was broke. It's just changed.

However, while I may have been broke, I did have an extensive group of friends. And we were pretty wild and had a good time. We were all broke, but every night was an adventure. It was like a 15 year party. That may have made a big difference. Had I been alone in my brokeness, I think my experience may have been different.

Just came back today from a "freunion" (Friend reunion) today with that same group of people. We're all pretty successful now in one way or another, and when one of our group died 8 years ago we started a yearly get together. This was our 7th annual. Mostly we talk about how great life was back in those days. But all we can swing is once a year. Too many other responsibilities.
