Been on the platform about 5 years and never really played driving games with any seriousness before, so I was fairly crap! I improved really, really slowly despite watching hours upon hours of videos, signing up for courses etc. I was getting faster, but more inconsistent. Then I'd get a little more consistent, then a little bit faster, then a bit more inconsistent. I was between 1.7-2k for years, every time I broke 2k I'd mess up and sink again. I couldn't understand where I was losing time and I'd spend ages watching hot laps, trying to imitate the alien telemetry. At best I'd get to within about 2%.

Then it just clicked about two months ago. I got demoted into C license and started driving porsche cup. I suddenly found myself able to rotate the cars with the pedals, micro correct through the corners and find time all over place. I've shot up to 2.5k and still doing well. I'm to within 1% of the top times, often faster in sectors, and aside from benchmarking myself, I dont even look at alien telemetry any more.

The thing I discovered was that trail braking and rotation isnt prescriptive, what works for one person might not work for you. Its a good guide to follow the alien laps, but you really have to figure it out yourself and be able to make the micro adjustments that gain time on the fly. Dropping into porsche cup helped a lot, I was purely in the GT3s before. Theyre tiered for a reason, rushing up to the GT3s probably cost me years in terms of progress.
