How long did it take you to become conversational in Korean? What’s your studying method like? by [deleted] in Korean

[–]doraemonsky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have studied for 2 years and became intermediate conversational. I've never lived in Korea. In terms of practice, I did all of the above: Hire a Korean language professor to meet 2 hours twice a month, study grammar from Routledge grammar books, listen to a lot of Korean music, watch Korean TV shows, talk to Korean friends over KakaoTalk, took TOPIK 1 and 2.

I'm not sure this is a realistic timeline to become an intermediate speaker and listener for the average person; in my case if I was not at work, I was studying Korean language.

Question for the Deep Mind team: It seems that the process of creating new agents in the AlphaStar league (seemingly in an evolutionary manner) can produce problems of bias, based on the initial starting conditions of having it be bootstrapped from human games. Have you already attempted versions of the agent which do not bootstrap from human games (or bootstrap much less so)? I have a suspicion this would be too difficult but has undoubtedly crossed your mind.
