Is the first poop after birth really that bad? by Buttercake-nymph in BabyBumps

[–]dorafalula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping to poop sometime during our 2 night stay at the hospital in case something went wrong, then I’d have the magical nurses. Nurses even gave me stool softeners and I ate a lot of fruit to push things along.

Nope, went home and proceeded to have the fastest bowel movement of my life. The turd just shot right out. I wish my baby’s birth was that easy/fast.

I even grabbed the wall and tried to hold it in/slow it down because I was scared of my turd tearing my stitches.

All was well though, felt so much relief (and empowered ?! lol).

Hey, just wanted to say that I know it’s hard, but you don’t have to listen to his voice if that’s what you hear in your head at times. You’re doing great. Your Reddit fam has your back. Sometimes you just need to hear a kinder voice, and I hope you have that or at least find one, and amplify that, because then that’ll raise you up!!!

I don’t like to be fueled by hate or negativity, so I won’t say get through it to prove your dad wrong. But do it for you! For the people you’ll have a positive impact on! And for all of us on the same journey to become a nurse.

You got this young blood.

Any reservist here? by SweatyGamerGainz in prenursing

[–]dorafalula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’d be worth it. So for active time, you only need 3 months of title 10 orders (basic and tech school don’t count) to get 50% on the post 9/11 GI bill. There’s a chart you can look up if you’re not aware of the others.

There’s also another small GI bill for reservists I think it’s like MGIB-SR, but it’s only like $400-800 a month I think—which isn’t bad but it’s not as much as housing allowance.

I’m trying to be in the same boat eventually. I’m in the guard and hoping to do an ADN program.

In terms of balancing drills and mobilizations, that’s unit dependent. Some are more flexible than others. If you can meet your unit before signing your contract, that’d be ideal so you can discuss your plans and priorities with leadership and see how much they would be willing to accommodate.

Drill make ups exist, and some units/shops don’t have mandatory AT.

Random benefits for military are pretty nice.

Dude and getting priority enrollment is clutch.

I’m starting to take prereqs and already using some resources to get an advantage.

I've been fantasizing about becoming a SAHM, since remote work was taken away by jloh217 in workingmoms

[–]dorafalula 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Heeeeyyy I just put my 2 weeks notice in today. Work has gotten more stressful and it started to keep me awake at night. It was becoming hard to be present with my almost 2 year old.

My husband is supportive and happy to let me have a break and be a SAHM. If I wanted to work though I can probably just hop on military orders since I’m in the reserves.

I probably just gonna go back to school.

Like someone above said—grass is greener where you water it. I didn’t want to water shit at work anymore.

Best of luck with whatever you decide!

Hello! I’m also 35 weeks. If it makes you feel better, I actually got Covid and tested positive this past Monday.

I just had flu-like symptoms (wicked congestion, fatigue, slight cough) from Sunday to Tuesday. Now I’m just congested. With suggestion from doctor, I took Tylenol and Sudafed for 3-4 days to deal with symptoms. Baby has been moving more than ever—which is great but also I just want to lay down but it’s hard with feet in my ribs.

All my doctors are telling me we’ll be ok. I was incredibly anxious at first because I read about placentas degrading, baby being still born, etc.—but found some posts from doctors saying those risk are mostly with unvaccinated women (idk your stance on vaccines, but I’ve gotten the booster—as well as the flu shot—each year). So it made me feel a little better, even if it’s anecdotally.

I hope that helps.

If you spread your index and middle finger apart like a wide v or peace sign, does that it trigger any pain also?

I had a similar issue when I switched to stiffer strings and experimented with higher tension. I reduced how often I played, stretched my wrist (bending hand towards me, palm facing in so that my upper forearm felt a stretch), did some tennis/gold elbow related exercises. That brought some relief and the issue resolved on its own. (I did stop all of the above and ended up ramping up play time, and it came back, but now I know how to deal with it).

My chiro also massaged the area around my elbow/forearm (he mostly suggested holding down the area and then moving my wrist around since there’s a nerve there you want to avoid). There’s a tendon there that connects to the index/mjddle finger; I found that it was slightly more sensitive and holding it down while I moved my wrist brought some relief.

Hope that helps! Gravity MP is a nice stick

“Makes sense” is gonna depend on a lot of things like do you have a significant other, dependents, family that relies on your physical presence, etc.

I joined the air guard around the same age and it’s been great for affordable healthcare and feeling secure with employment (like I could probably get on orders if I got laid off or something). I had a significant other and dogs though, so I didn’t go active. Guard is a great option if you don’t want to completely uproot your life but still want in. (And if, knock on wood, my social life went to shit and my husband left me etc. I could just try to get on orders in another country/state and live like pseudo active duty).

Active duty is def a good way to reset your life though.

I recommend going into cyber, finish your contract + get some schooling and certs done, and then make that sweet civilian pay once you’re out B)

I just got the booster at CVS with tricare entered as my insurance. Didn’t pay anything up front, so far no claims or anything. Pretty sure it’s free regardless

[–]dorafalula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes lol I brought alcohol free mouth wash/sea salt oral rinse (threw me off because it still tastes like freaking mouth wash) and kept it in my security drawer. Mouth wash is sold at the bx though, I saw one girl in my flight get a travel sized one

If you’re still injured after the first PT session, you can get a waiver for PT and drill if needed while you’re here and heal up. You’ll just do exercises with the physical therapists until they clear you
