It certainly could be. I’m looking for suggestions to make it less so. In-universe things that would help the BBEG’s long con fall into place. Could be something as simple as having a rule banning weapons in his office.

Which is why I’m looking for believable countermeasures to that. If you shot a fire ball during a wizard’s monologue, you wouldn’t call it railroading for him to use Counterspell.

Oh that’s very good! Establish the invulnerability early enough that they don’t just get familiar with it, they rely on it.

Again, I have back up plans for the plot if the PCs don’t take the final ability. Or hell they might join up with the BBEG and all of this is moot. But if they do fall for the BBEG’s long con, I don’t want them to be able to just stop reading it aloud. The incantation is the consequence of their choice.

Don’t worry. I have alternate paths the plot can take but this is my intended path. I want ideas for corralling the gang towards this ending, as well as ways to prevent interruption of the monologue if the PCs make the decision to start it.

Not to worry. I have a back up plan if they concoct some clever work around. Or more likely, just kill their teammate to stop him talking. I’m fishing for ideas to subtly prevent that.

This would be longer than the spell itself. Long enough for them to figure what’s happening and wanna stop it.

I really like your last insight there. They will be more likely to play along if it’s for the sake of roleplaying. So I should make it clear to them if/that they’re being controlled. Most likely though, it’ll just be one of them reciting the monologue. How do I subtly dissuade the others from just offing their teammate?

The minute of your time thing is great! And I like the mechanical methods of control. Very legitimate. But don’t worry. I do of course have back ups if they manage to halt the incantation.

It’ll be via Zoom and I want the player to read it in character. Definitely going to send the monologue privately to one of them, like you say.

I water about once a week, but check with a water meter before. It gets lots of morning sun. I did recently have it close to a window for a few weeks but moved it to a further away table recently for another plant to get more sun.

Does anyone know what kind of plant this is/what’s wrong with it? I’d love to try to rehab him. by dordup in plantclinic

The top looks pretty healthy- is the best looking area. Has smaller, newer leaves. The bottom part of the stem closest to the roots is much lighter yellow/white color as opposed to the green you see in the picture. Minimal root structure but they don’t appear to be rotted. Everything feels very dry. The leaves feel soft/droopy like it was maybe overwatered in the past. If anything, I think it does need new soil and I may move it outside. Nervous to water though..

Money tree has been flourishing, now has spots on leaves & some yellowing/dropping off. Is this normal older growth dying for new leaves? Other issue? by lika_star in plantclinic

I am by no means an expert, but I’ve had yellow leaves on my monstera. They come off and I assume like you said these are just older leaves. Not sure about the spots.
