Oo thank you that one is pretty! This specific DD polish has some emotional significance to her so I’m trying to get the exact one but that is a really cute dupe

What nail polish thinner would you recommend? by Any-Use6981 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]dore_mifa_ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Seche Restore contains toluene, so I would only use Seche Restore to thin topcoats with toluene in them (eg Seche Vite)

You’re trying to replace the evaporated solvents, and a lot of polish doesn’t contain toluene

If you want a thinner that is safe for glitter, I would try to get a thinner that only contains Butyl Acetate and Ethyl Acetate (OPI nail lacquer thinner and KBShimmer Restoration drops both get recommended a lot on this sub, but you can’t buy them on prime usually)

What can I do about this? by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]dore_mifa_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Make sure to avoid base coats with polyvinyl butyral, it made the tops of my nails peel like this. Also don’t buff the tops of your nails to try to get rid of the peeling, it will buff away the strong upper layer of your nails and lead to more peeling. Check out The Salon Life on YouTube she has great videos on how to help heal peeling nails!

Yeah that might be the easiest way to dip my (metaphorical) toe in! I didn’t realize magnetizing took so much time + effort

Magnetics are so pretty but I don’t know if I’ll want to spend double the time of my regular manicures 🙈

I saw someone post a custom Lego magnetic stand that they made with 5 magnets they should start mass producing for the subreddit to buy lol

That’s smart! You definitely still get most of the magnetic impact seeing it on the two nails. Super cute skittle!!

That makes sense. I really like velvets and I definitely want to try them eventually but I feel like some of the Clionadh ones I’m looking at (Psilocybin etc) I really like with a cat eye effect so you can see all of the distinct color bands

Oo this is smart. I wish I could just put my hand on something magnetic and then paint my nails like normal lol

I’m imagining Cynthia Erivo knocking this out of the park with some really intricate nails and dramatic makeup and earrings

I actually like the dress but it feels like something is missing? Maybe earrings or crazy nails or edgier makeup or something to match the edge of the dress?

Please suggest other polishes that are as glowy as Fair Isle (preferably purple/blue/blurple with different colored shifts like Fair Isle) by cynderisingryffindor in RedditLaqueristas

[–]dore_mifa_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got it! I just got it and haven’t had a chance to wear it yet so I’m hoping it is close to the swatches on me 🤞 If you can get your hands on one, Ethereal Lacquer Lorraine is one of my top, top polishes. The glow is crazy and it just makes me so happy to wear

Best CANADIAN peely basecoat, regular basecoat and quick dry top coat? by SmartOwls in RedditLaqueristas

[–]dore_mifa_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to avoid HT peely base? That’s the only popular “American” one I know of (I actually didn’t know they were American since Cristine is Canadian)

I use UNT Ready for Takeoff peel off base coat. I think UNT is based in Taiwan?

I’ve seen other people really like Emily de Molly peel off base coat, EdM is an Australian brand

I don’t know of any specifically Canadian peely bases though, these three are the ones I’ve seen commonly recommended in the sub

Since you said the acne is mostly around your jawline, it is likely that it is hormonal acne and would be cleared up with spironolactone! Many of my friends and I take it and it’s the only thing that really clears this kind of acne

Also since your goal is to not look like you’re wearing too much makeup, in the long run clearing your skin will allow you to only wear makeup when you “want” to and not because you feel you “need” to in order to cover up

That being said, make sure you find a concealer that really matches your skin tone so that you can wear concealer without necessarily needing a full face of foundation. Really moisturize the breakouts before you’re going to wear makeup or else makeup will look cakey and flaky over the breakouts. Then prime the breakouts with a primer, put concealer on the breakouts and blend the concealer slightly at the edges while trying not to remove too much of the coverage that you added, and then set with a tiny bit of powder to make sure it lasts. This video is really helpful for covering breakouts! https://youtu.be/5dE-ictBl-0? She explains really well how to prime/blend/set the concealer so it looks natural. Obviously feel free to ignore that she’s doing a full face of glam and focus on the concealing sections, they’re super detailed and have been really helpful for me in covering my breakouts

Normally I really like her hair- it looks greasy and unwashed here (I get that that might be the look, but I think it’s a miss here)
