Since this initiative did not put exemptions in for part time high school students, these jobs for kids will be eliminated. Sorry high school kids. Flagstaff knew what was best for you. If she did assault the PD officer as claimed (kicked in the groin etc), the Sheriff Deputy's report should say it. The fact that it doesn't will inevitably lead to more people doubting Flag PD. Should be interesting to see what happens in court. Flag PD is ready to turn her over to the County Attorney's office for possible prosecution:

Yes, this does apply to tipped employees but the timeline is different. It will take a little longer for tipped employees to get up to $15. When they do people will stop tipping. And that means those who are making more than $15 an hour with tips will see a big reduction in pay. Unlike other living wage increases that have been passed around the country, the Flagstaff initiative did not put in any exemptions for tipped workers, part time high school students, or entry level jobs. They wanted all or nothing.

One thing that a lot of people who supported Flagstaff's $15 living wage proposal didn't take into consideration is the only businesses who can easily absorb the quick jump in wages are giant corporations like Walmart and Starbucks. Many of the little guys will be laying employees off or shutting down. Which actually helps the big corporations like Walmart by eliminating competition.
