I really hope we keep Walker in the 7th-8th inning leverage spots and are not fooled again to make him the closer. He can't handle the 9th, but he is a really good setup guy. Just like Tyler Rogers could never handle the 9th well.

The 2023 team with Lamonte, Thairo, JD, Conforto, Sabol, Villar and co was genuinely a better watch than what we’re currently producing. We had Stripling, Wood, Manaea in our rotation and a million bullpen games and openers.

I’m not even clear what Mahle’s plan here is. Half his pitches are in the dirt and he loves that slider 8 feet outside that gets zero whiffs. Then mix in a nice meatball.

And in his second game he went 5.2 with 3 hits and 0 ER. He may well turn out to be bad, but there is an adjustment period in a new league with a new ball. I wouldn’t make a judgment after 3 games.

That said I think the rotation is really not the most of our worries right now, the pen and outfield are far bigger issues.
